Last week at Academy I was able to find 3 150 rd boxes of Win Forged 9MM (came out to $9.33 per 50) along with a box of Hornady 380 HPs.

I didn't get any but they also had Rem 12 gauge buck shot, which I haven't seen anywhere.

Today I was able to get 2 boxes of Blaser Brass 45ACP FMJ, a box of Fed Train+Protect 45 ACP HPs, 2 boxes of Aguila 22 short, and 120 rds of Fed AE 556. All for reasonable prices.

This week they had a Ruger LCP in 22lr on display, and more amazingly a Rem 870 Express 12 gauge!

I'm lacking a 12 gauge right now and I was tempted but my budget will not support it today

Our Academy has shotgun shells and a few rifle cartridges, but totally out handgun ammo last I checked.

Our Academy had 2 boxes of 38spl shot shells. That was it. Two weeks ago they still had lots of rimfire, that has pretty much dried up too.

Central Texas Academys have been bone dry most of the time but with no warning, you can find a bunch of any one caliber for one day before it sells out. Found Winchester Ranger 12 gauge slugs, A&E 40S&W, Federal 44 magnum, Blazer brass 45acp and some off brand 9mm fmj. All over the last 3 weeks for one day at a time. They also had about 15 pounds of Longshot on the shelf. I put a dent in that one!:D

Like a 2 hour drive for me to the Orlando Academy so I've never been. I do get lucky often going to Rural King. Bass Pro is a 30 minute drive down the interstate so I rarely make that drive

Went to my local Academy yesterday.
The only rifle ammo was .17 HMR and .300 Win Mag. No pistol ammo.
All the bird shot you want for all gauges. No buckshot.
No primers. No powder.

The issue isn't ammo coming in, it's how fast it goes out the door. The local Academy store get a pallet or more of ammo 3 days per week right now and people have been lining up in the morning to buy it. They don't enforce purchase limits here so by 11am it's gone. I don't know if these are people hoping to resell or laying in stock for whatever. People are literally loading up shopping carts with ammo. You would be amazed how quickly 45k rounds of miscellaneous flavors can disappear out the door. (Sounds like a lot but really isn't - a few dozen customers and it's gone.)

JGsales has had Tons of 7.62x39 ammo. It still does this minute--but notice why.

They just raised their price in the last week, for a case of 1,000 rds. (fmj Russian) from about $300 to $330. >>>--- And that is Before tax and shipping are added---<<<

With "pre-panic prices" as the policy for ammo at Academy and WalMart, they are always being encircled and under siege. It is the "ammo version" of Bastogne Belgium in December 1944 (the Bulge).

Same in South Georgia at Academy. My work schedule doesn’t allow me to participate, but a friend shows up and lines up Wednesday morning sometimes; limit is 3 boxes per customer until all are served or they run out. Doesn’t matter what caliber or box size, but just 3. If there’s any left when the line of customers are served, you can have a second helping of 3. No price markups yet according to him.

Stopped by Academy in Olathe, KS. They had a shipment of 9mm with a 3-box limit (boxes of 50). I bought 3 and my wife bought 3. The guys in front of me and behind me also bought their 3 boxes. It was flying off the shelf

The ones close to me have the 3 box limits and get pallets 3 times a week, they don't know what is coming in until the truck is unloaded, they couldn't believe I didn't want any 9mm or 223 that they had bulk packs of, I was hunting 6.5cr, they had 6cr on that delivery and mostly 12ga bird or trap.

If anyone else is looking for 6.5CM, they had quite a bit at the Cabela's in Kansas City. They had 6-7 different brands and bullet weights. I bought 3 different Brands in search of what my new rifle will like.

My local Academy is pretty bare. They have some hunting rifle rounds and one or two flavors of snake shot pistol ammo.

Shotgun ammo is well stocked...if you want to hunt birds or bust clays. Buck of all sizes isnt on the shelves.

I stopped by local Academy yesterday and discovered a large inventory of shotgun shells, various gauge, and a light inventory of rifle and pistol rounds. They are enforcing limits by the box for selected calibers, instead of number of rounds, e.g. limit 3 boxes of .223, 9mm, or .380, and limit 5 total boxes of ammunition. I picked up three 20-round boxes of Frontier .223, 55gr, at $8.89 each. They had some .45ACP, .308, and a few other items, fewer than 20 boxes of each.
No 9mm, .38SP, or .380 that I could see.

Plenty of 45ACP on the shelf, even some of the expensive 9mm fancy SD loads (I picked up 3 boxes of 45 for $17.99 each) - this was 8/25.

Do people with most ARs, Mini 14s etc Really want .223 fmj ammo? And they know how to order on the Internet?

If people really Mean what they Say, and don't just want others to believe so, then they are also willing to pay the:
1) sales tax, and
2) shipping costs.

JGsales has Tula: $599 for 1,000 rds. This minute.
And about $330 (base price) for 1,000 rds. of 7.62x39.

Why is Academy the only focus, and method?

I could probably get some ammo at the Academy in Pensacola if I knew when it got there and had the motivation to wake up early enough to show up. The last 4 or 5 times I have been there, all they have is SP ammo for traditional hunting calibers and no shotgun shells with pellets bigger than #4.

8/27/20 - Local Academy got a shipment this morning. Winchester WB 9mm FMJ 124Gr, $12.99/box of 50; limit 3 boxes.
At noon they had ~50 boxes left. Clerk expected for all to be gone within 2 hours.

My local Academy is about 30 minutes down the interstate, so to drive there on my day off which coincides with one of their ammo deliveries works for me.

It's also easier for me to drop $50-$100 on ammo at a time vs $300-$600. So bulk buying isn't the best option for me.

I would love to have a close by Academy but that would mean a heck of a lot more people would live in this area. I would rather have the solitude than the store by a long shot. It's two hours to my nearest one so the only time I go to is when I have a doctor's appointment in that town. The only time I have to drive there to see that particular doctor is when I have to have surgery to remove a skin cancer. I can get my regular check-ups only 35 miles away in an even smaller wide spot in the road than the one I live close to. I can do without visiting Academy from now on if it means no more cancers.

It's local... a lot of people don't like buying online.
I know people who only use cash to buy ammo so it isn't traced to them.
I think I may have seen some tin foil under their hats.
I buy 40 S&W and 380 from the local Atwood's.
I buy components online sometimes. But usually support my local reloading store.
