Serial# says 1971 but frame under grips has 1975 stamped? Blueing is decent as is the case color with trace of rust(for now used some Rem oil but will get Breakaway). Action seems tight. Not as tight as my new Cobra but this is 49 years old. When hammer is in #2 position when I turn the cylinder, on the 6th opening it is slightly sticky(?). Holding it makes me yearn for some horses and saloons.

Anyway I surfaced cleaned it and ran patches in cylinder and barrel. Next once I have my ammo(coming weds)will be range. Enjoy.

Nice gun! I almost bought the exact same gun a few months ago, but let the good folks here at THR talk me into a Single Six. Now, if you haven't already, you need a good holster. I bought one for my SS at Azula, and really like it. You might also look into Simply Rugged; they're quite well made. I have one for my SAA. Enjoy your new gun, and let us know how it shoots!

Just a reminder, the name New Frontier was adopted from
President. Kennedy's slogan and was Colt's way. of
showing its appreciation of him. He received one of the
first centerfire models off the production line.

Sounds like it needs taken apart, cleaned and lubed. Before y'all go to the range put a few drops of oil in around the trigger and a couple in around the hand.

Cool Colt!
I like those earlier ones more than my mid 1980s version that was just finished in all blue.

If you look closely at this one you put pictures up of you will see the frame is different than the cased frame of others pictured. It has a die cast frame and the edges are rounded ect. Also Colt off shored parts for these the were not made in Hartford altho partially assemble there. I hope theferriswheel is listening, he would know. Hard to find info on that

Are you referring to my New Frontier or the one Armybrat posted? Mine does not seem to have die cast or rounded edges. Am I wrong?

He is talking about mine, and I believe he is correct. It is not nearly as nice as my brother’s earlier .22 Peacemaker.
Thanks. I looked at mine and was perplexed, lol. Got to stop taking my guns so seriously. They are tools not collectibles!

I like the New Frontier 22's for shooting. Have several. Enjoy the gun! But generally I favor double action 22 revolvers.
