Ramshot Silhouette

I think this burn rate chart has it about right for Silhouette

Walkalong, Western Powders should know their own powders even if they don't know exactly how they rate in burn rate against other manufacturer's powders. Western Powders has silhouette rated as just faster than True Blue.

I thought somebody indicated that WAP and Silhouette were the same powders, but Western Powders has WAP and True Blue as in the same category, with Silhouette in a faster group.

You would think. :)

But I don't have an issue with their "chart", I have an issue with the one (Hodgdon 2019) that has Silhouette after American Select. They have Silhouette and True Blue shown as being faster than they are. I'll bet a cold drink they fix it one of these days.

Ramshot burn rate chart. They should know as well.

In all reality I find little use for any burn rate chart in everyday use. To me they are confusing, useless and meaningless. One cannot even hardly find two that concur with one another.

Yea, they have to be taken with a grain of salt, but they can be useful.

Exactly, though I find the advice of actual users to be more enlightening, understandable and usefull.

These charts rank the powders but they do not tell or explain exactly how close one powder is to the next one above it or below it. Heck they could in actuality be be same speed just placed on a list in no order. Just how much faster is #20 than #30? Marginally faster? Significantly faster?

Are all these burn charts measured the same way? Not likely.

Taking Hodgdons 2016 chart
(using these because I have used all three)
15 Titegroup, 25 N320, 35 N330
I would say Titegroup is fast, N320 fast-medium, N330 medium,
so on that chart those 10 steps is a noticeable difference IMO
However

#s 25-29 all seem close (I have used all of those 5, 28 and 29 are the same powder)maybe a little bit between the two 25, 26 and the 3 at 27,28 and 29, between 25 N320 and 31 Unique there is enough to tell the difference for sure.

Yea, they have to be taken with a grain of salt, but they can be useful.

I agree
