This pistol has been well documented on several forums over the years! I think I got her damn near 5 years ago... Regardless she holds a real special place in my heart... This was the first full blown custom 1911 I ever got! What makes it even more special is my friend Brandan Bunker built it for me. The gun was built in both 9mm and 38 super comp (but it will fire 38 super with no issue as well).
I am not going to get into the history of Bunker and myself, but at the time he built this 1911 for me, we were going through a lot of the same things in our lives. I really did connect with him... we talked for hours about this build. As documented, the pistol was supposed to be collision course of "old meets new".... meaning if JMB had access to modern day machines, what would his vision of the perfect 1911 be (Spare me that "the original 1911 was just that talk").
The reason I wanted to write up a bit more on this pistol is because I am giving a rare in detailed peek at the internals of the gun. Something most will never, ever, ever see posted on the internet. Most 1911 threads are pics of the outside of the gun... the "look at me" pics. But it is rare is the soul of the gun pictured...

To add to the top, this was the very first 1911 Brandan built on his own frame variance. I requested the serial number 7 for many reasons, but in religious context the number 7 is the number of completeness and perfection.
5 years ago the 1911's Bunker Arms was building is very much different than the 1911's he is building today. When I got this gun, the approach was the way the old masters did it... all over sized parts, all hand fit, and all very labor intensive. You can see the contact points of the barrel fit, the slide stop wear, and the utter perfection of the inner workings on the slide. Today, Brandans approach is much different... He approaches things practically with laser precision of CNC machines. His guns have evolved a lot... Coding a machine to do a lot of the labor that he once did on a mill. He now makes all his parts in house vs sourcing them. Bunker still does some of the best blueing in the business... His trade mark oil grained premium blue work (which is pictured) looks very turnbull charcoal like in color but still has that blue vs grey look. Its a dead give away that he did the finish work! Today you will see much more PVD, DLC, or "Ion Bond" coming from his shop, which look equally as attractive and the finish work he puts on the newer guns also is a dead give away that it was done in his shop!
I am lucky blessed to own a 1911 build the older way he approached guns, and the new way he approach's a custom gun as well. Both extraordinary guns, yet very different from each other.
I am not joking when I say this, to date I have not had a malfunction with this pistol... dead nuts reliable and spot on accurate!
