Been on a missing spree. First animal I've taken this year with one of my centerfire rifles.
There isn't much of a story on this one. We were going over to Kona so my buddy could pick up some stuff, and decided to do some hunting on the way over.
The only place we could go time wise, was down an access road we use for bird hunting. This is pretty open and mostly scrub brushy, with some sense clumps of trees.

The first place we stopped.and checked was a Pu'u (cinder cone) I've had luck walking the rim on before. About 1/2 way around we jumped a small ewe and lamb from a ravine finger below us, but didn't spot any more animals.
Moving on from there we stopped at over looks on way down
On our second stop I saw this ram move thru an opening at about 300yds moving diagonally towards us. I tried to get Ed on him, but he crossed the opening and clear part of the road below us at 180ish before Ed could find him. Where he came out, the wind blowing straight at him.
Since Ed was out of position, and I didnt think he'd wait for us, I took the shoot as soon as he came up above the level of the tree directly infront of me. The round hit him with a resounding wack and he went down like a ton of bricks.

I didn't actually get to see how big he was thru the scope before I fired, but from what I saw of him moving I knew he was a big animal.
He's the largest sheep I've taken to date, and his horns while not overly long were really wide. Ed's got a special place for him in his collection.

The idler pulley on my dad's truck seized up AFTER we got out. Which was a major blessing, because the road was all washed out and nasty.
When I got home, I found that my oldest dog had passed while we were out....I'm enough of a romantic to believe she came on one last hunt with me. So while I'd usually attribute both taking an excellent animal, and my equipment holding out literally just long enough to luck.....

All I can say is thanks Poi......

Really nice animal good mass on the horns to. The missed shots may just be from so many different rifles you have been shooting lately, clearly your 375 gets it done. Great pictures he would make a fine mount.

Sorry about your dog, strange I've had it and friends, we're have good luck one day then to come home and find out a pet died.

Thats a possibility. I know it was part of my issues with the muzzle loader. Its got a heavier trigger than any of my other rifles, and I was breaking my shots later than I expected.
The rest Im not really sure, but they all do fit different. I missed with the 527, and Ridgeline this year, missed a bunch with the muzzy.
Confidence is a little shaky lol, perfect time to go back to the .375.

My beagle is hanging on. I know that her hourglass is just about out of sand, but she still seems happy and healthy enough. Be thankful that the dog passed, having to make the decision to put one down is hard, and that is what happened with my boxer 4 years ago. It’s hard to lose a dog, but you know that you had a great friend for a while, and got to be a great friend to the dog as well.

Aside from Mouflon, what else is mixed in? Seems whatever it is it makes for a beautiful critter.

I was getting to the point of having to make that decision, and have in the past, and your 100% right.

Uhh....sheep? Domestic of some sort, I don't know what varieties there are lol. The ones I see that are closer to full feral look almost exactly like cartoon sheep would look.

Really nice mouflon. The mass is spectacular. 7 or 8 years old???

My dog is almost 15 and she sleeps a lot. I expect she'll be gone when I try to wake her one morning. Sorry about yours. It's a shame they don't live to be 40 or 50.

I'm not sure, I've never learned to gauge age on these guys, he's old tho, older than any ram I've taken before.

The hour glass is why I take my 24/7/365 day a year grandson out shooting every weekend I can and take him back to New yorkistan hunting.

The hour galass empties and can never be refilled.

Every day that goes by is a day closer to the hole in the ground.

This November i bought both of us a airline ticket from WA. State to New Yorkistan to go deer hunting together and show him my cemetery plot back there. He wants one next to mine so.I will buy several others for future family as well as other cousins.

This says it all.

I used to raise mouflons and yours looks like a typical mouflon. Maybe the horns flare out just a bit at the tips but the white saddle and the inward-growing horns look like at least 90% mouflon.
Yeah the herd compositions can vary pretty significantly, but this animal is about as mouflony as I've ever seen, at least up on saddle. I need to look but I think in have some pictures of the mouflons we took out of kahuku ranch.

One of my friends growing up had a 50 cal drum water heater lol, dunno why I didn't think of that
Lol I've seen them before and some nice wood stoves made out of them. I remember as a kid using them for dunking the pigs in to remove the hair, one sinder block on each corner and a few peaces of wood would boil pretty quick.
