Your Favorite Shooting Accessory?

Eye and hearing protection are necessities IMHO, you get them BEFORE you purchase a firearm. I like hinged carrying cases, my range boxes are just ordinary tool boxes.
It didn't work out that way when & where I grew up, much less first time firing a firearm - including participating in a NRA program as youth, both my brother and me, on indoor & outdoor ranges.

But I can say that about helmets when riding bicycles as well.

I don't know if I would call this my favorite, but my loading and range logs are very important to me. I noticed that I spend a lot of time contemplating what I've done at the range and the loading bench.

My number one accessory is definitely electronic ear protection. Specifically bluetooth enabled ear plugs style for hunting and the muff style for target shooting. This makes for nice hunts waiting for doves, squirrel, or waterfowl to come around. I can carry on a conversation with a buddy, listen to a podcast/music, and most comically talking on the phone with my sister and dropping a dove so quick after it took flight the guy with me thought I was just shooting grass pods. Currently using Walkers but looking to switch to a nicer product since the foam on the Walkers need replacing a few times a year.

Second would be MTM cases for my reloads. While there is something cool about cracking open a ammo can or popcorn tin of loose pistol reloads and just going to town the satisfaction of pulling out a single plastic case and loading out of it is akin to the slow methodical approach of a single shot shotgun. Also way more effective to keep track of load development than plastic baggies, or at least for the way my mind organizes.
I took your advice and ordered an MTM box to check out. They are pretty nice, just ordered more.

I am thinking of labeling the various ladder loads as shown below. There will be less than 10 of each, so I thought staggering them would be a good approach. Any better labeling ideas?

Thanks

That is actually a great idea. I normally just make notes on a piece of paper with which row is which load and use the hinge as reference for top. I like yours better.

Hi All-
I was trying to think of my two favorite Shooting Accessories....... and does enhance the shooting experience, by making it easier to load mags.

Barrel cooling fans,
Seriously?? Well, I suppose if you're at the range doing mag dumps with your AK, one would come in handy in the absence of a stiff breeze, but....seriously?

My solutions to a hot barrel is twofold; 1-don't be in such a hurry to use up your ammo, and 2- take several guns and let one cool off while you heat up another one.

As for accessories, my four favorites are my reloading equipment and reloading supplies, and I'm not talking about magazine loaders, I've always done that by hand. Another great accessory is my Walkers electronic muffs, and I suppose I could include my pickup truck as an accessory, because I use it to haul myself and guns to and from the range.

I probably wouldn't shoot without ear protection or eye protection, but nothing has improved my gun handling skills more than getting a holster.

Electronic ear muffs. Took a long time for me to try them, but boy do I prefer them now over old style muffs and plugs.

The gold old basic fifty cal can used in conjunction with adhesive labels and a piece of transparent shipping tape over the label to protect it. This has done wonders to keep my stuff organized in a manner that allows me to find what I'm looking for while also protecting whatever I have put inside.

If I had to choose a third I'd be torn between my Lee loading stand or various Maglula products.

A syringe of lube...I learned the hard way at an outdoor class that it's a must for tight 1911's. After about 300 rounds on a dusty range, a little lube in the slide rails, on the barrel hood at the front of the ejection port and on the barrel where it interfaces with the bushing is a must.

IF a syringe of lube doesn't count, I'd go with holster and mag pouches.

I use the .50 cans also but prefer business card magnets for the labels.

Favorite accessories - binos or spotting scope and Uplula

Finally getting used to Red Dots on my pistols, have started buying guns that are optic ready. As I get older this helps with accuracy more than anything else I've done
