I just purchased a NIB P30SK. Awaiting its arrival later this week. It is a variant 3 - DA/SA hammer fired with a de-cocker. It's going to replace my Sig P365XL as my EDC. I purchased a P30 a few months back and so began my cult adoration for HK pistols. The way they fit and feel in my hand is hard to describe...the ease of shooting them and the soft recoil is a pure joy. I owned a P365 that I couldn't seem to ever warm up to, it was just to small and uncomfortable feeling in my hand. I sold it to make room for the P30SK. I like the H&K pistol line because of the ability to customize the grips for the perfect fit, the European style mag release and the ambidextrous controls. After all the years carrying a DAO revolver I found that I've come to really like that type of action... I'm just not really a big fan of striker fired. After I get this P30SK vetted for EDC I may just up and sell my P365XL.

Agreed, I have the large beavertail backstrap and sideshells on my P30, and the large beavertail backstrap on my P2000. IMHO, these grip mods really improve the way the guns point to a target, and even improve felt recoil.

Oddly, the SK is easier to shoot and more comfortable to me without any mag extensions. I can’t say the same about the G26.

I have a VP9 and I have to say for a striker fired gun it has a really nice trigger on it. I also like the "customizing" that you can do to the grip configuration. It came with the "Medium" parts in place and it was okay but the "Small" backstrap and side panels were a perfect fit! Sort of reminded me of the way a Browning Hi-Power fits my hand!

My HKs have the largest back straps and right side panel in. Then the smallest left side panel. Fills the palm nicely and allows you to wrap your fingers around the grip very nicely.

BP series has fantastic triggers.

I took a hard look at the SK and it is an excellent platform.
The standard pinky extension didn't work with my fingers, but the larger or smaller probably would have been OK.

Took it out to the range this afternoon. Flawless..as expected. I did notice that the DA/SA trigger is noticably lighter than on my P30, especially noticable in SA. I'm guessing because of the shorter hammer spring maybe. The P30 has a safety, this one does not... could that contribute to the softer trigger? I actually prefer this trigger over the one on the P30. Anyway, I put 60+ rounds thru it today. More to follow next week .. it's pure pleasure to shoot it.

Good choice. :D I prefer the LEM, but I think if you practice enough, the specific trigger variant really doesn't matter.

Related note: I carry mine using a Stealthgear Mini IWB or a Flex OWB. Stealthgear usually has some good sales, so keep an eye out.

Thanks... I tried the LEM and just didn't care for it.

I'm actually using the holster from my P30.. just slightly longer which is fine. It's a Kydex IWB from JustHolsterIt. They make a nice heavy duty Kydex.

I have two P30SK's, one with the V3 trigger (SA/DA) and the other with the LEM trigger. I have preferences of which to use for my carry circumstances.

Since both guns are the same size, all of my magazines are interchangeable between the two and the controls are the same except for the trigger. I'm still working on getting comfortable with the paddle magazine release.

Some people gripe about that, but I find I like it equally (if not more) than the standard pushbutton release.
The ambidextrous paddle release was a big attractant to me... but I can understand someone who has used a button release for years on end going thru a learning curve. To me.. the biggest selling point is the grip design and the customizable grip panels in general. By experimenting with the many combinations you arrive at a grip that is customized to precisely fit your hand... all the other great features and the high quality of build is icing on the cake. The two that I own will not be my last. I can see my once coveted P365XL possibly going on the auction block one day.

I like his myself, with a usp 40c and a 9mm p2000. The p2000 I bought barely used with an lem setup. I preferred that to the day/as that I switched the usp to that as well. As much as I practiced with that first round decocked I still always shot it noticeably low on the draw.

The p30sk seemed okay except the boTtom of trigger guard seems all wrong.
