CMP Service Grade M1 Rifles - Are Available Again!

SERVICE GRADE: (Good to Very Good)

Service Grade Rifles show less wear and better appearance than Field or Rack Grades. Good to very good condition. Rifle wear will be exhibited by worn and mixed colors of the parkerized finish. May have pitting on the metal parts. Wood will be either Walnut, Birch, Beech or other variety and will be basically sound but may have minor hairline cracks, dings, scratches and gouges. Wood may not match in color or type of wood. Wood may be of new production but may be used and show signs of wear on Service Grade Garands. Bores will be generally good with only minor imperfections. The barrel crown may be nicked, but the muzzle will gauge “3 or less” and the throat erosion will gauge less than 5.

Manufacturer selection only guarantees the receiver was produced by the manufacturer listed. The barrel and the other parts may have been produced by other manufacturers.

$750 seems a bargain in this day and age...

Even when you consider that, even a "shabby" one, w/ a Bbl TE of, say, ~ 4.0...? (which I have never seen, as all have been < 3)

Should still have at least 4,000 rounds of very good precision... and another 4-6,000 rounds of acceptable (< 4 MOA).

A workhorse of a rifle - backed by the CMP, for in-spec parts and function - guaranteed.

I just don't have any more room for another one. I would have to sell some 03's or a carbine.

Thanks for the tip.

This is absolutely the best way to get your M1 Garand, even if you have to join some group that has a CMP affiliation to get it. You're never going to find another M1 at the same price that's also in the same condition.

Love the Garand, qualified with one in boot camp in 1956, carried one for 18 weeks and qualified with one in OCS in 1967. Then went of a long time without, except for shooting off the fantail of a DE at floating objects etc. and at the misc. shark from the bridge. Then about 12 years ago finally bought my very own from the CMP. Got a "special" in 30-06 and really like it. Don't shoot it enough however.
