Take a look at some of the CMS (cowboy mounted shooting) offered by uberti. Also ruger montado.

Find the revolver that you like and then call @Michael Tinker Pearce and see if he'll work his.magic on it! That guy makes all manner of remarkable cut down pistols and pretty cool grips.
An 1851 Navy Richards-Mason Conversion cut back to 4" would be round about the coolest SA CCW I can think of. Why, if you ever had to pull it, your assailant would almost certainly go limp and slack-jawed in awe before you fired a shot, or would drop and abase himself before you chanting " I am not worthy ".

I rarely use the thong, the fit in the holster is good enough that it doesn't need it. It's there in case of extra strenuous activities, which, as I age, come less and less frequently.

My only real objection to a single-action for CC isn't capacity or rate of fire, it's the slow reload speed. This little S&W .38 Single Action (2nd Model) solves the issue nicely with auto-ejecting and the ability to use J-frame speedloaders. On occasions when maximum discretion was required I have carried this little gun. Chambered in .38 S&W it demands precise shot placement, but it will do the job.
On social occasions when carry was as much ceremonial as practical I have carried this ASM 1873 .45 Colt I call 'Shorty.' I re-engineered the ejector to produce a full-length stroke despite the 3-1/2" barrel.
Likewise I have occasionally packed this Avenging Angel based on a Cimmaron Richards-Mason .38 Special-

I doubt I would really carry a short SA but I enjoy thinking about it. I tried both a Ruger Montado in .357 and a more recent Birdshead in .357 but was not happy with how well the short ejector rod handled the longer and higher pressure .357 cases. It didn’t. However, the little Birdshead-gripped 3.75 inch .45 acp is the sweet spot for a carryable SA Revolver in an effective caliber that can be loaded and unloaded as fast as any SA you’ll ever find that’s not a top-break. Blued or stainless. Blued is prettiest. Stainless maybe most practical?
I agree on reload definitely.
Although here's a wild idea: carryhawk comes with a second cylinder in 45acp, how about reloading like the black powder days and just swap in the cylinder.
I'd want the base pin to be slightly easier to take out than the one on my Blackhawk ( which is very very very tight fitting) but seems doable. You'd have to make sure to not dump out the rounds( unless the cylinder has something to capture the rimlessness of the 45acp?)

If I were going to carry a SA for a SD gun and wanted a shorty version this would be my choice. Weighs 32oz and has 7 shots. I would load it with warm 115gr hardcast lead bullets to around 1100fps.

Been curious for a while. How much does your .357 Thunderball weigh? My .45 weighs just a pinch under 39oz, and I would think a.357 should weigh at least 3-4 more oz considering the smaller bores.

Are the imports still smaller in cylinder diameter than the Rugers? Had a first gen Vacquero, from when Bill Ruger overbuilt things to a fault. Those things were tanks.

BTW, have one of the '51 conversions, and they are pretty neat. Always liked open tops.

Yes I would agree, but oddly my scale is telling me otherwise at 37.21 oz. I moved it around but it stayed the same. Then I checked the scale with a 1 lb weight and then my (known weight) S&W R8, and both were accurate within 1/10 of an once or so. So, yeah mine seems a bit light for some reason. I changed the grips from the wood to the pearl, but not sure that would make up that kind of difference. ??

I had weighed some of my guns a while ago, and have a little spreadsheet with some of this information, and I looked at it again today, and I have 38.9oz listed, which is similar to what I have listed for my Uberti Cattleman .357 w/5.5" barrel, 39.8oz. So, I can only assume I transposed some numbers.
So, I got the scale out and weighed the Thunderball again. As you can see it's actually 33oz. So considering your numbers, everything makes sense now.
FWIW, my engraved Cattleman in .45Colt and 5.5" barrel is 36.4oz. Just a little lighter than your Thunderball, even though it has 2.5" longer barrel

The FBI statistics have shown that the average civilian gunfight is over in 3 round or less, and the odds of more than 6 rounds ever being needed in a civilian defensive encounter are next door to zero.
