Oh, I now see that yours is a bolt gun. Will be interesting to see if I get similar results.

That's right where they dialed in with CFE223 for me as well. Really opened up after 27.Using a red dot for ladder testing at 200 yds is probably not the best method. 2MOA for those bullets is pretty good. Same bullet and CFE223 dialed in around 26.5g for me.
The reason my target rifle is a 223, is that I should be able to get five thousand rounds out of it before any serious degradation of accuracy, i.e. greater than 1.25 MOA.
~2MOA is not bad for an FMJ, Hornady’s being some of the best. But a VMax, they are not.
For a fighting AR, your DD7 is doing well with the lighter bullets, @peeplwtchr.
The seven is a fast twist for a 60 VMax, but I would try those for some accuracy. They best the 75bthp by a fair margin at shorter ranges.
If it doesn’t work with Varget and a VMax, your rifle is broken.
Perfect, this is valuable, thanks. Btw what gun was yours through? Mine was a S&W M&P 15.That's right where they dialed in with CFE223 for me as well. Really opened up after 27.
Yeah I forgot I had the dot on it. I haven't shot it for 5 months, because its been 100 degrees plus here for that long. Pointless testing in those temps. When I got to the range yesterday I was likeUsing a red dot for ladder testing at 200 yds is probably not the best method. 2MOA for those bullets is pretty good. BTW after around 5k rounds, I noticed about a .5-1moa degredation, I thought it was me, as I have read that .223 barrels aren't shot out until 13k plus. But the S&W M&P is a pencil barrel, and has been shot in extreme heat for half of those. And yes, I remove copper when the borescope sees alot. Just did it before this test. Another factor may be that it was my first AR, and I did all kinds of crazy stuff before I knew better, like cleaning from the muzzle end of the barrel, or from the chamber with no bore guide. The reason my target rifle is a 223, is that I should be able to get five thousand rounds out of it before any serious degradation of accuracy, i.e. greater than 1.25 MOA.

I've been looking at TAC for awile, thanks!
I found and ordered H322 last night, it is often compared to TAC for accuracy. Its also in the Extreme line fot non-temp sensitivity. I need that here.I've been looking FOR TAC for a while... but it seems to be Unobtanium right now.

24 left: https://www.brunoshooters.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=7931I used to use H322 in the .30-30, but eventually switched to IMR3031. Never even thought about using it in the 5.56mm...
Yeah, doing 75gr loads for my DD 1:7. No point in trying to get accurate w/a 55gr FMJ in 1:7.
I gotta say, my friend has a Saint , and it's as precise fitting between upper and lower, as my DD. I think that and my M&P 15 are my favorite mid level ARs in terms of quality. My ex-sniper instructor agrees.Home build, has a FN CHF/CL 1/7 Barrel. Loves 75/77gr. Accurate enough to be fun (1.5-2.5moa) with 55/62's.
I was looking for th 62gr bthp last night, no luck.Fixed it for you. If you don’t believe me, try some Berger 55 gr HP, Nosler 55 gr Ballistic Tips, Hornady 55 gr V-Max or Sierra 55 gr BlitzKings and get back to me. Heck, my cheap PA-15 1in 7” twist even shoots factory Fiocchi 40 gr V-Max close to MOA. The bottom line is that open base FMJ bullets are cheap for a reason and hollow point or soft points are more expensive because they are more expensive to manufacture and perform better. My “all around” load for our AR’s is the Hornady 62 gr BTHP, which used to be available for just over .10 a bullet from Mid-South Shooters Supply over 24.5 gr of TAC. It doesn’t quite equal the 69 gr Nosler Custom Competition or Sierra MatchKing, but is pretty darn close. It may not work in your particular rifle, but has given great performance in the 6 AR’s in our extended household. (3 1 in 7”, 2 1 in 8” and 1 1 in 9”, with barrels from 12.5” to 24”)

My buddy has a saint and an m&p15, and yes, I'm very impressed with both, especially for the price! If you do end up finding some TAC, it does a little better than the CFE accuracy wise for me.I gotta say, my friend has a Saint , and it's as precise fitting between upper and lower, as my DD. Hopefully I will within a week.I picked up 3K of those earlier this year... now I'm glad I did. I'm working up loads with them right now.
