I've got a real Jones for Swedish rifles and particularly Swedish target rifles. I'm usually on the lookout for any Swedish rifle that is decently priced and every so often I'll run across one and grab it.

Two years ago I ran across this Swedish FM23-36 trials match rifle. At first I thought it was some kind of hack job, but after doing some checking I was able to identify it and glom it.

If you will pardon the expression ‘bit chin’’. That is nice sort of modern art. Is it all original? From what year.

Thanks!

It is still original. Here is a page from Crown Jewels, the best book on Swedish Mausers...

An interesting thing about the FM23-36 is that it is built on a 1935 dated receiver, which does not have the thumb cut out for using stripper clips.

Mustang51 you have a fine taste on firearms as far on Swedish Mauser rifles.
Very nice indeed -- congratulations on a real find!

The rear sight looks like it has more elevation than the usual Swedish target diopter.

This was back when thumbhole stocks were cool and functional rather than just some stupid ban workaround.

Thanks, guys!

Another interesting thing about the rear sight is that it is a Lyman 48...and that is correct. If you look at the FM23-36 page from Crown Jewels, shown above, it states "Unusual features include a heavy target type barrel with a tunnel type front sight and a Lyman model 48(M) micrometer diopter type rear sight.
