"This product is currently not available online." Did Cabela's/Bass Pro change their policy?

I can't find any black powder revolvers that are available for sale online on the cabela's website. Are they really all sold out or did they change their policy on shipping BP revolvers?

I was in the store yesterday and they had quite a few in the display case.
 
Not guns but percussion caps. Not available at my store, won’t ship to that address, pickup only. It seems to change frequently. I’m referring to the Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro Ma. One problem there is a Rhode Island resident trying to buy from a Massachusetts store. Nada. Need a permit just to buy round balls. How that ties in to on line is any ones guess.

About 6 months after BPS took over Cabela's management, Cabela's ceased listing any revolvers on sale. About 6 months after that Cabela's ceased selling revolvers online. One must visit a store to see any revolvers, as was stated above.

It's all about bean counters and hedge fund guys.

Each revolver product page on Cabela's site allows me to check my local store availability.
They're not shipping revolvers for customers, but perhaps we could help each other get revolvers that are in stock at our own stores.
My store has 10 models available.

I thought that they discontinued shipping revolvers because of the lawsuit over the Ohio murder.

I also think that Cabela's may have taken a beating on their no questions asked return policy when they were doing mail order.
An outfit can't continue doing business the same way when so many guns were being shipped back as defective after being fired.

I got one a few weeks ago and they now make you pick it up after you give them your DL #, and fill out their inhouse " I am not a wife beater" forms.

I remember as a kid, my buddy and me would pore over the cabellas catalog. We're suburban kids playing war around the neighborhood so I don't think we even really understood it was a hunting catalog. Camo=army=cool
Nearest cabellas to me is in crook county so its a nickle per round tax, penny on rimfire- plus flat like 50 per gun... just crazy. Unfortunately, I associate that store with that tax and consequently don't shop there.
I go south to the BPS and skip the tax. These days, both stores are mostly full of branded sweatshirts and the like.
 
Its crazy they won't ship bp revolvers any more.
The 2nd amendment is slowly fading.
My local pawshop runs a full background check on ALL muzzleloaders,even traditional.
Why?
Because our county sheriff told them its federal law.

100% agree. I think the same guy who kept making Midwayusa.com updates designed it. There for a while a few years back midways sight just got more un usable each update. Lol

Cabelas site makes it difficult to buy anything shipped to home now. Even the ammo is iffy and ive ordered thousands from them. Their 2000ish website was better....and the web as a whole was pretty shotty back then. Everything wants you to go to the store. And I use a VPN so it's not even my local store. Sometimes their search filter cuts out things it shouldn't too. I use a Cabelas card for building and fuel. I usually get a free gun just from my points by black friday. but yep....their sight is terrible and their store isn't what it was.

The article says that a jury trial against Basspro and the gunman was scheduled for April 20 in Wayne County Common Pleas Court.
I didn't find any info. about the trial, perhaps someone else can.

Ya know a long time ago i once considered becoming a retailer of these guns. Like a small shop retailer..but all the guns i would sell would be "Texas tuned" by me...given the full tuning....and sell them for the same price as retail...cuz im sure retailers are making atleast 80 bux profit per gun...and thats fair enough for me. But for that endeavor i need money to buy a bunch of guns wholesale...whatever their minimum order is as a start. Would you all think thats a good deal? Basically i would be just like any other retailer only guarantee you wont get a lemon and the gun would be tuned with my custom setup as an option for free. It would be the only way to compete with the larger retailers and allow me to move inventory fast or atleast at a steady pace. Everyone wins...i make a sale for a small profit and the customer gets a custom gun.
 
That sounds more than fair enough to me, but I see that your main stumbling block these days is going to be availability from all of the Italian factories due to the pandemic.

Thank you all for the positive feedback. Of course availability would be another thing...but as far as working the guns i would be able to churn them out pretty quick. New Piettas would be done very quick as they are of great quality and the newer models dont need much work...its the older guns that take a bit more TLC and more time....but new piettas i could easily churn out 2 or 3 a day if i worked them as a regular 9-5 job. Im going to look into this endeavour deeper and see if its possible...id have to contact pietta and ask how i could become a retailer of their products etc. Wonder if its hard to establish business with them?
 
I agree about Bass Pro messing up Cabelas. Not long after that happened, two of my favorite salesmen at the local Cabelas quit. A shame. They were knowledgeable and friendly and it was a pleasure to buy from them. But Bass Pro strict procedures took the fun out of the Cabelas staff.

When it comes to not shipping BP guns, I assumed it was because they didn't have any in their central warehouse. So what was in the stores was all they had. Just a guess.
