Not the most elegant way to transport game? Nice body mass, easily 130lbs, and tiny 1" nubs for antlers. I passed on a decent 8 an hour earlier on purpose, it wandered back and forth right in front of me for almost half an hour but I had decided beforehand that this hunt was for meat only.

Waiting for snow now. It'll be much easier when you see better.

Stalked this guy on foot and got within 30 yards yesterday. Shot him with my compound bow using heavy carbon arrows and a 100 grain 4 blade muzzy broad head. We were in super thick brush and I thought he was quartering away from me, but it turned out he was quartered towards me with his head turned hard looking over his shoulder. That mistake made it a pretty marginal shot as I held back a little bit expecting the angle to put it where it needed to go, but I found him within 100 yards of where I shot him. It was quite the thrill to stalk in, I held full draw for at least a min looking for my shot before I had to let down and try to get 2 steps closer to get a better angle through the brush. buck001-DSCF2929.JPG buck009-DSCF2937.JPG

First deer with a bow, and first buck ever! Watched this 7pt and a smaller 6pt spar for 15 minutes before he gave me a 25yd slightly quartering away shot. Fixed blade went through both lungs and the heart. He only made it about 40 yds before tipping over. He even went TOWARDS the 4 wheeler!

Well, was fortunate enough to get on the board with a nice spike buck 10 minutes after sunrise. DRT using "Stubs" my self bubba'd No4 Mk1. Can see the white belly in the 2nd pic. Dropped like he was hit by lightning lol. 20201121_064044.jpg 20201121_063517.jpg Got him skinned and hanging in the wood shed for a bit before I butcher it. So happy to get him as our freezer is getting low! Now I gotta work on filling a few of the 5 antleress tags I have.

Be safe and happy hunting folks

That’s a really interesting looking rack. I like weird and that split tine gets my attention in a hurry.

First deer harvested for 2020 this morning! I’ve gone out for deer twice this year looking for the elusive blacktail. Last weekend found a spot with a lot of sign but I think the deer were spooked by bear presence and road hunters. Tried again this weekend and connected with a healthy sized doe. It was nice as it was the first shot I took out of a new to me Winchester M37 12 ga single shot. It’s full choke and I was using Fiocchi 00 Buckshot. I think the shot was 20-25 yards and most of the pellets penetrated the lungs, and possibly one in the gut. I’m happy that third time was the charm and perseverance paid off!

I had to get some blood on the Ruger No. 1 RSI in 30-06. She had already busted me and dropped her shoulder to spin around and run, so the bullet entered low in the facing shoulder and blew out the off shoulder on the high side. 150 gr Hornady Superformance SSTs does not play around. Now to decide which No. 1 to break in next. 69212277-CE18-4689-9754-22A39170025B.jpeg

Late in the season for me, I finally got one tonight. Cooler weather really helped. Nothing coming in on calling. 35 yards with a bow. Kind of a long one for me.

Got this spike about 12:30 this afternoon at 60 yds, 7mm08 rem 700 sps, new Burris scope, 139 hornandy interlock spbt over 49.8 gr h4350.
I saw him coming, got ready to shoot and hit busted, dilly boy circled back, then add I was still there went the direction he certainly from, but kept strolling into my shooting lanes. Had a nice shoulder shot, he then stepped behind a tree leaving the rib cage exposed do I hit him there instead. Drt he flopped once.
