Sounds like you have a magic touch...or just plain bad luck. :D
No kidding..I know this is a Glock hate thread but I've owned 6 Glocks(still have 3)..adult sons have owned another 7(17s, 19s, 43s, 45s, 26s, 48s. 42s)..and none of us has had any issue, like almost zero. I had a failed to fire on some cheapo re-man ammo, G17..but that's about it. Oldest son, Glock17/5 has never even cleaned it(yes, he should)..after about 2000 rounds..still no failures of any kind.

YMMV<---

I did an experiment years ago with a Glock 34 after a few experiences with my Colt 1991A1 that would jam up or stove pipe after 200-250 rounds. I shot the Glock with no cleaning or lube for 960 rounds before I had a stovepipe jam. I disassembled it it, oiled it, put it back together and put another 500 rounds through it before I felt guilty about mistreating it and properly cleaned and lubed it. M experiences with the 1991A1 reflected those of my experiences with my other 1911s.

I have liked Glocks ever since. I have 4 now. I regret selling that G34 but I bought 2 to take it’s place. I did have a G19 Gen 3. Didn’t like the grip and sold it as well. I now have 2 G34s, a G45 and a G26. Been thinking about a G21...I think would be a good next step in my Glock experience.

30SF frame fracture around 20,400 reloads. I experienced a lot of failures to lock back on empty mags prior to this and spent a lot of money replacing 8 magazine springs. Bottom line - it still shot and ejected fine. In the end, the barrel and slide is the only thing original after Glock replaced everything else for free. I can say my slide has 26,000 now because I ran an aftermarket barrel for 10k or so. Trigger spring broke at 14,000 and that was a bigger problem than the frame.

Am going to use and learn more about the 19. One partial mag is not enough to really judge it. Given the potential for massive social unrest on the horizon i will hurry to decide. Even the drum mag i used to laugh at seems more reasonable every day.

Only failures were from after market parts, including a cracked firing pin and a trigger that wouldn't reset. It's OEM only for me now.

Is brass thrown to the face a failure? That was corrected be changing the extractor.

Otherwise, my Glocks have been trouble free.

This has been a very interesting thread to read. I have only owned one Glock and that is a G42. Never had any issues with it attributable to the pistol itself. The wife and I went to the range and I had a bad box of PPU 95 gr FMJs; it jammed every third round with FTF, FTE issues. Every other brand of ammunition has worked flawlessly in it; most importantly the Hornady American Gunner it is loaded with for home defense and CCW. I have and will trust my life and family's with it. I have Amend 2 and Glock factory magazines. My brother has a G22 and never had problems; he told me he has 5k through it.

Now, I had a Kimber 1911 that functioned flawlessly with every brand I used but Winchester white box 230 gr FMJs; it jammed constantly with those. Again, it functioned with everything else and I did trust it (traded it off 5 years ago when I needed money). I currently own an Auto Ordnance 1911 made by Kahr and it functions flawlessly with everything but Blazer 230 FMJs. With other ammunition I have carried it while hiking and trust it. It hasn't let me down with Fenix or Remington 230 FMJs so I stick with that. I have used Triple K magazines without issue either; seem to work just fine.

Glock 22, 24, 31, 19 x 2, 35, 29 over a span of 20 years and not a single failure that was not due to ammunition.

Only failures I have experienced with defensive guns have all been with S&W M&P series.

Thats beyond odd, approaching complete disbelief. Glocks warranty https://us.glock.com/en/OWN/Warranty

Believe what you will. This was back in 2007 maybe 2008. I have no doubts their CS has improved since then, but not enough for me to bother with their firearms. The Glock 22 was fixed by one of the other co founders that had completed their Armorer certification course. In any case this thread is about Glock failures, and that was my big one.

My Gen 5 Glocks don't like wide meplat (flat tip, JHP) loaded longer than about 1.11" and like to give light strikes with that loading.
They're probably not chambering fully. The Gen 5 Glocks have tighter chambers than the older models and you can run into issues like that with them. I was taking a class awhile back and one guy was shooting a Gen 5. The snap caps he was using for malfunction drills wouldn't chamber in his gun. They worked just fine in everyone else's. I've seen other similar complaints since then.
Finally had the trigger return spring fail.
Fire, fire, fire....stop. slide went into battery with round in the chamber, and trigger stayed fully depressed. Douuuugh!!!!
If you hold the trigger fully to the rear and rack the slide, the trigger will reset normally, even without a trigger spring installed or with a broken trigger spring. Might come in handy someday.
I CAN, however, get an FTE if I drop a round in the chamber by hand and then close the slide on it.
Neither 1911s nor Glocks tolerate this (direct chamber loading) well. It can eventually result in damage to the extractor. Rounds should be chambered from the magazine.
Thats the same rail that broke on mine. I didn't notice until I was cleaning it after shooting it that day.
There was a known issue with a batch of Glocks where the frame rails were bent improperly, resulting in breakage. As I recall, if you have a Glock in the affected range, the factory will replace the frame at no charge.
Does losing a firing pin plunger spring count as a “Glock Failure”?
Although it is not recommended, the gun will operate properly without one. However, if there are other parts damaged or broken, the gun will no longer be drop-safe without the firing pin safety/spring installed.
Anything mechanical is bound to fail at some point, with enough use or neglect.
Yup. People who are shooting a lot of rounds through the guns with the original style coil trigger springs should keep a replacement on hand and should replace RSAs at reasonable intervals. Also, those doing holster work should change out the plastic front sights to metal.
I change RsA when I feel like it. None have likely made it to the round count Glock recommends. Ive ordered them for as little as 10 bucks at times so why wait?
If you go to a GSSF match, the match armorer will probably give you a replacement for free.
On the draw, the magazine catch sheared off and threw the inserted magazine ahead of me. I shot my one round in frustration and lost the match due to the failure. We contacted Glock and was basically told we were on our own to repair it or replace, as they refused to warranty the failure.
That's kind of an unusual. Usually if an armorer contacts Glock, they can get most parts sent to them at no charge. I know I've gotten free parts for myself and friends on a number of occasions over a period of years ranging all the way back into the 1990s just by calling and asking.
I dropped my slide while cleaning it.
Yup. When the slide is off the gun, the rail channels at the back of the slide are very vulnerable to damage. I've seen a slide or two damaged that way. The loop at the front of the slide that retains the RSA is also vulnerable, but is a bit sturdier. When you have the slide off the gun, special care should be taken not to drop the slide or hit the rail channels at the back of the slide.
Most of the time firing and striker issues with light primer hits. I have also had FTE and FTF issues.
Any specific type of ammo involved?
Lastly, I’ve run into mag catch problems where my mags would literally push themselves out of the bottom of the gun due to a failure with mag catch.
Interesting, that's not a very common issue. That's with factory magazines and magazine catches?

My Glock fail story is this, over the years I have owned 17 various models, and now I own none! They simply don’t fit the human hand worth a crap. Maybe it’s time to try a Gen5?, give it another go? Lol

I have a bunch of Glocks and a bunch of other autos, and really have no troubles shooting with any of them, even switching back and forth between them.

I would think if a Glock doesnt fit your hand, there are a lot of others that dont as well.

Fixed it for you...
I don’t know of another frame that has been modified more to fit a persons hand than a Glock. My issue is with the groove spacing on the G19, forcing my index finger into the trigger guard. I think the Gen5 will fix that.

They all put you're fingers into the trigger guard. I have callouses on the index finger of my left hand, and middle finger of my right hand because of it.

The 17 don't, but I’m really wanting the 19 to work out, without carving up the frame. I held a Gen5, it did feel better:)

Here's my tale of Glock woe. My local gun store had a smash and grab theft. A thief took a rock and broke a window then a gun case. I came into the store a few hours later and the owner told me what had happened. I ended up looking at a Gen 3 Glock 21SF. When operating the slide the gun was covered in glass dust and the slide catch was bent in slightly. The shop owner told me he'd give me a discount if I took it, and I did.

So there it is folks. A first hand report that Glock stamped metal parts can be bent with a rock.

I've had the gun for ten years and it is my favorite Glock. It has an extended slide release to replace the bent part. Don't remember for sure but i think the part was $10.

I currently own 6 glocks and have owned others before

Never ever have i had any failures with a standard pistol.

Only had 1 issue throughout the years and that was very recent and was completely up to me when i installed a apex trigger gen 5

Still have to get the hang of the new trigger and they way it is built

A number a glocks (9&45) have passed thru my hands. The only failures I ever had were all reloads.

Yep. Load my "general purpose" JHP (from RMR) shorter and they work fine, stopped using the 147 grain flat point anyway, sticking with 124 grain for reloads.
