Arrows work a little different than boolits.
So it's like shooting deer with a 45 Colt. No one argues that is unethical. The carbine turns an 225/230grain/800fps bullet into one doing 1,000/1100fps.
The carbine means shot placement accuracy at 75 yards comparable to 5-8 yards w/ a hand-held handgun.
The carbine effectively means walking up to the deer and placing a near-contact handgun shot into its chest -- at 75 yards
-'m pretty sure anyone shooting a 1911 would be fine with that for any four (or two) legged animals.
The picture tells the story. Out of a rifle, .45 ACP would be traveling @ between 1100 and 1400 fps depending on bullet weight. This would be similar to a .44 mag revolver with a 6" barrel using similar weight bullets. Nuttin' embarrassing or unethical at all.
That’s on me. I honestly had no idea that 45 out of a carbine was likely over 1200 FPS. I always heard that many pistols use a fast burning powder so they don’t gain much with additional barrel length.People do shoot them with bows.
If required to use straight wall I'd do 44 mag rifle for kids. But anything in the lungs, will do it. I go bigger where i hunt, because of lack of deer, and thick brush. If you are in hunting close in wide open country. or have the abilility to wait, good gun for kids, I suppose. Slower than .357, but heavier and bigger hole.
I certainly do not see it as unethical, especially to the point I would create a thread.
Yep, depending on the powder you can really get them moving with some extra barrel length. Some faster powders probably don't gain much butThat’s on me. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about this. High Point posted this on their Instagram today it’s from the Ohio youth hunt in the past week. In my opinion 45 ACP is very unethical to use against whitetail deer. I would actually be embarrassed to post that pic.
If it was unethnic why did the state make it legal?
You can't argue with sucess, last year my son shot a 8 point buck with his Kimber 1911 in 10mm and the year before he killed a six pont buck with his Ruger Blackhawn in 44 magnum I gave him.
So is hunting deer with these two handguns unethnical?
No matter what any one does people will have a beef about it. It's human nature.
Congrats to the kid.
I'm not going to dispute the gist of your post but I WILL say that a state's legal stance does NOT always equal ethical. In this particular case, I have no issues with the .45vs deer, but never just assume that legal=ethical. If it was unethnic why did the state make it legal?

Says the man from Yakutsk. Most states manage their deer herd well, though some of the states in the Midwest are a little overpopulated, (like OH, and my state, WI) even with all the loss to truck and car bumpers.Don't care if it's a suppressed .22.
In Ohio, dead deer is the only good deer. Big caliber, small caliber, run them over with a truck, throw a spear at them, bow and arrow, drop a rock on their head. Don't care, slaughter them all.
Quite a few have seasons that are way too short. Those are the states with the highest instance of deer/vehicle collisions. You would think the insurance companies would lobby for longer seasons.Says the man from Yakutsk. I think slappy’s second post is an important one from which all of us and the whole internet should learn.
Before we make quick judgements, let’s look into the matters we judge for ourselves.
That’s all from me tonight, happy thanksgiving.
