Saw the above at my LGS. Was impressed with it. Fit my hand , felt like a very good trigger , seemed well balanced and well made. Does anyone own the above or the Canik TP9 series in general? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I have a TP9SFX and love it. Put a Freedomsmith after market trigger in it and it shoots VERY well. Price vs options and quality they are top notch. On prices watch closely they are all over the place.

I have a tp9sfx and a tp9sf. Both have freedom smith triggers. They are very reliable and accurate. To me recoil is a more noticeable compared to my steel frame CZs and 9mm 1911s. The caniks are much lighter which has something to do with that.

I have been shooting a tp9fx in steel challenge and USPSA for 2 years now. I love it. Had no issues whatsoever, eats any ammo I feed it. Very accurate.

I recently purchased a TP9 Elite SC Tungsten model. I love it. There is a thread about it that describes what I think of the quality.

A Turkish HK? Canik Elite SC and HK P2000SK | The High Road

Just today I installed a Sig Romeo Zero RMR sight on the Canik. The installation was quick and simple. The hardest part being the removal of the cut-out plate, which is quite tight. There is a plate included in the Canik box that goes under the sight. I used the M4 screws included with the sight and presto. Took about ten minutes total.

The gun seems very well made. Several torture test/ reviews demonstrate the reliability and durability of the brand. I've only been able to try 115gr. and 150 gr. ammo. Both worked fine. The 150 gr. seemed a bit softer to shoot. I also have a TP9sfx that has been shot quite a bit with no problems what-so-ever.

Reliable, good sights, good trigger, Cerakote finish, 12 and 15 round mags, (higher capacity with other Canik mags), good ergonomics and controls and cut for a RMR. Whats not to like?

I had a "shoot-off" comparison with the very similar HK P2000SK. The HK has been my favorite for the 15 years I've owned it. It is the gun I compare all guns to. The perfect gun IMHO. If the HK is my perfect 10 then the Canik is a 9.5 and could prove better with more use and familiarity. I would highly recommend the Canik TP9 Elite SC, especially at the prices we see for the brand. I paid $419 a few weeks ago.

The Canik Tp9 elite Combat is their top of the line...it is a Walther Clone that I believe has exceeded the original, especially since Canik teamed up with Salient Arms for this model...It is another step up better than the standard Elite series pistols ( and the SFX) by Canik....I have a collection of Walther and CZ which I have started letting go, since they are being replaced by Canik Combats... The felt recoil and trigger are the best out of the box of any striker or hammer fired polymers i have ever tried from Walther to CZ, and even the Archon Type B which doesn't get taken out of the safe any more......I even let go of my CZ Shadow 2 as these new Combats outperform it in my hands....if you have large hands the SFX may be more comfortable, as the flared maxwell with the Combats can crowd large hands....however the flared magwell can be easily removed too...The Canik SC is very nice as well and accepts the 20 round mag used in the SFX and Combats...I do like them, and have 2.

I like my Canik TP9 Elite SC. In fact, I just posted a thread about it (see link below). I got mine for about $370 out the door. Currently, they’re around $400-425 + shipping/tax. However, in that price range for a Cerakoted RDS-capable pistol with a great trigger and excellent reliability, I do not think any other manufacturer’s offerings come close. You’re looking at spending about $50-100+ more if you want an optics-ready CZ or Glock.

My advice... go for it!

I purchased and had a very positive experience with aTP9SF. So when the SC model came out I purchased one.
Hate to say it, but have constant fail to return to breech issues. I've sent it back twice already. The second time they replaced the recoil spring and were nice enough to give me the old one was well. I still keep having the breech issue. Its a shame because my other canik has yet to fail or have issues. Love the triggers canik uses. Really want to like it. I take it out every once and awhile hoping the issue clears up. Not yet.

As far as accuracy. It is a tack driver. I just wish it would be reliable like my other Canik.

Crazy Horse have you had anyone else try to shoot it?
Knew an experienced shooter, he bought a new 1911 that wouldn't cycle reliably. Asked if I could shoot it and it shot fine. Figured out his other 1911 had aftermarket grips and he was riding the slide on this one.
I believe the SC has a shorter barrel and probably a heavier recoil spring and snappier recoil. Make sure your not limp wristing it and allowing the gun to recoil to much.
Just some ideas...

ford8nr,

I haven't had anyone else shoot it. I have the shield in 9mm and 45 acp. Have never had any such issues with either of those and those have shorter barrels than the SC.

It'd be nice to try out another SC to see how that performs. If it were that, it'd be the first firearm that this has happened on for me.

If it weren't that I shoot only reloads, I'd ask someone else to shoot it, but with ammo shortages everywhere, I may have to wait awhile.

And there might lie your problem. Gun might have a tighter chamber then the others. Have you tried factory ammo? If you were close I'd give you 5 rounds.
I've got 2 .45's one runs flawless with my lighter hardcast loads, the other not so much. Both are set up relatively the same. Go figure.

Yes, I have used factory ammo. I initially started with 100 rounds of factory ammo (I like to run factory ammo when I first get any firearm). Same issue. Ran a box of 50 each time it was returned, same issue. The first time I ran WWB as this is what the Canik technician indicated he used when testing the gun. The second time around I ran Sellier and Bellot ammunition as ammo options started getting limited.

The only type of ammunition that I have not run through it, is SD ammo. I still have factory ammo, but I don't want to use it only to be frustrated when it happens again.

Thanks for the offer though.

Other users in the Canik Fanatic forum have indicated similar issues with Canik replacing their spring for a lighter one. I have been using only 124 and 125 gr ammo, but may look at going to 115gr ammo to see if that makes a difference.

I know the OP wanted feedback, I would recommend he fire one before pulling the trigger. It definitely feels more weighty than a Shield. It also has a rail for a light (Shield does not), can be converted fully for a left handed shooter (Shield cannot be changed out for a left handed magazine release, and it has a plate for an optic (Shield requires milling). And the trigger is awesome (changed out the Shield trigger for an Apex.

I really want to like the Canik, especially since it was a gift from the wife. It also is one of the few Canik firearms that have an ambidextrous slide release (switched the magazine release, but that was by far the most difficult thing I have run into compared to other manufacturers), and an option for an optic. Out of all the firearms I have it's the only one that gives me issues (except for a LEO purchase I made, but the issue there is with the sights not firing). Still not giving up on it. I take out the Tp9SF when I get frustrated to be reminded of how good my other Canik firearm is.

I own a tfp9 elite combat in fde

It is a great pistol right out of the box

I fondled all models and shot most of them at a canik range day organised by the company that imports them in the country where I live

I would not hesitate to advise anyone to buy a canik if they are thinking about adding one to their collection
