2021 Reloading Goals

Hello, Everyone


First I hope all is well with everyone and your families may you all be safe and healthy


Now onto the crux of the matter


What are your reloading goals for 2021?

Mine are as follows
Buy More components
Bullets
Primers
Brass
Powder

In that order,so what are yours?
 
Except for shot shells, I have not done much reloading in 2020. The shot shells were for several fun skeet leagues at the range I belong to. Otherwise, I was too busy with the race car and horses to shoot much in 2020.

I want to straighten up my reloading area as it has suffered from disuse, do some more casting as I have some bullets I want to experiment with, sight in a 22 BR rifle that I built a couple years ago as well as develop loads for it, and shoot more skeet.

First goal is to increase the berm height on my outdoor range. Second goal is to finish the inventory of my reloading components. The third goal was to inventory every round of factory ammo and that has been achieved.
 
It has taken a New Year’s and two Christmases worth of saving, but I’ve enough to get a Hornady Ammunition Plant press!:)


Like Varmint, I like loading, a lot, but would rather do more shooting or woodworking. (Already “turned” a profit selling some wood turned bowls.)
A progressive press would help my pistol skills immensely, no longer squirreling away to the hole for hours at a time. Instead, taking the kids to the forest to hone actual skills.

So my goals for the new year is three fold.
1) Find a press available for sale.
2) Get press running like water.
3) Become poor from buying lead.

They are lofty aspirations, but I am committed. Twice!:D
 
1) get a progressive press for pistol loads. Loading on a single stage takes more time than I have.
2) shoot all of the small batches of reload ammo that are sitting around. I’d try some new combinations, they wouldn’t perform, and I might leave the last 8 cartridges. Bet I’ve got over 100 of those collecting dust.
3) do a better job of keeping reloading data
 
I would like to spend more time teaching my 18 year old son about reloading as he likes to shoot a lot. Also have a friend who wants to learn how to reload and has asked me to mentor him. Really looking forward to both of these things!
 
2021 hopefully will be busy. I have a little over 100lbs of lead that I would like to cast and powder coat for 9, 45, and 38. Should yield about 4000 projectiles...ish. And then developing loads for those cast bullets. I still have some plated and jacketed projectiles to load up. The other goal this year is to put the 30 carbine die set i got last year to use. Depending on how that goes...I may be looking for a 110 grain mold for the m1. Hope to put enough together to hold me over at least till 2024
 
I'm going to what is essentially "just in time" reloading. It occurred to me that if I go suddenly, my poor wife would be stuck with thousands of reloaded rounds. The stocked up reloading components and commercial ammo are like money in the bank but not the ammo I loaded. I am a very careful reloader but I don't shoot others reloads and I don't let them shoot mine.

This year I'm going to shoot up the reloads and from then on do a monthly reloading session to load enough ammo for that month.
 
Hanno I keep what is essentially a range trips worth of ammo loaded for each firearm ahead. I do process the brass to the point that adding a primer, propellant, and bullet will be a finished round. Replacing what I shoot is no big chore this way. My goal is to offer at least a couple more reloading classes at the local range I am a member of.
 
Be patient waiting for supplies, likely get into a new caliber by buying a 6 GT barrel or barreled action so would be playing with that. Am giving away two of my rifles to my kids, a .308 & a 6 Creed, so might be helping with those.

I am almost out of .41 & .44 Mag, so I need to load some of those. I picked up a bag of 250 Zero .44 Cal 240 Gr JHPs about a year or so ago, so I'm set there, kind of low on .41 projectiles, should have done the same for it. Yea, 250 isn't nearly enough for some of our .44 Mag shooters here, but it will last me 3 or 4 years. :)

I'm low on .223, so I see a big load session for those in the near future. Picked up bullets on sale for that here and there during the good times, so I am OK there.

I need to load some .32-20, some .308........ :)
 
Biggest goal is to get organized. Aside from that, I want to finish a current run of 9mm on my 650 then move onto 223 on the Dillon.

I have a load worked up that shoots well out of all my AR's, have a few K of 223 brass to size and trim then have run with those.
 
I’m going to develop a .357 Magnum load (I have H110 and 125g jacketed bullets).

I also plan to try H380 in my 22-250 (Midway had it in stock earlier this week, so this will be a fun project with my time off in the next week).

I hope to have time to build a new bench. With my two sons and i sharing one, we could use some additional space. My neighbor kindly gave me some rough cut hardwood boards, and thus far I’ve been able to plane them down...a bit of sketching designs is in the works for this week as well.
 
When components loosen up a bit I’d like to introduce a little more automation for 9mm, so perhaps a progressive. Before next fall I want to load for 450 Bushmaster, About out of 45 Colt so I need to load some of those. In 2020 I barely shot any rifle loads, therefor I don’t think I loaded one single rifle round. If I did it was about 100 .223 back last winter. In 2021 I was to shoot more rifle and load more rifle.

I’d like to assemble more cartridges, I think.

actually I have a real one;
Develop good recipes for 125gr and 150gr spitzers (Sierra game kings) in 7.62x39.
All I’ve ever used were a bunch of surplus 130gr FMJ
