**EDIT**
I changed my mind on what I wanted to do with the rig and optic combo....My original idea wasn't going to really be a good fit for the gun, or the desire to use the optic later for other stuff.

Thus Ive made some changes to my criteria in choosing a scope.

Looking for a new scope for the 28 Nosler. I have a first-gen Midas BTR on there right now, but for a host of reasons I want something else, and none of my other scopes will work because of the thing's propensity to bounce brass of sticky-out turrets.

The Noslers mostly a toy, but I want to give the gun and round as close to a fair shake as I can. It will be used on targets as far out as I can manage to make hits (sometimes ill shoot at rocks on hills well past my rangefinder's ability to read). It will also be used for mid-range hunting, with shots out to 400-500yds right now, and possibly farther if I ever get good enough to be confident....and willing to walk that far.

The available budget is probably going to be 1200 +/- depending on the deals I can find, and stuff i can dump etc.

.
***EDITED***
Primarily windage turret can be no longer than 3/4" and preferably capped.
Must be MOA based, and matching.
Must have accurate adjustments, and/or an evenly graduated reticle. They don't have to easily adjust on the fly tho.
Must have 14+ on the top end, which also dictates focusability, and a 42+ dia objective.
Must be Second Focal Plane

beyond that ill try anything.

This will also be a scope that stays around and gets moved from gun to gun as my interest changes I'm sure. I have a Zeiss 3-15x42 as my "general" purpose hunting scope, so this can be heavier and more long-range specific.

Does anyone make a scope where the turrets are to the back more this seems to be more a problem these days then in the past. Could always keen the scope over lol.been seeing guys talk about that one tract scope is nice for the money.

Ive seen some like that, but mostly cheap ones. Not anything on the ones my quick overview of 7-1300 dollar scopes were built like that.
Same with left side windage, tho i know some are mads, they are out of my price range.

A Tract UHD has been on my list of things to try. Ill check on how far out the turret sticks......

Tho i guess if its TOO much of pain finding what i want, i can just go to a taller ring set up.

This is intriguing. So the problem is brass hitting your windage turrets? Could the ejector be tuned to spit them out more horizontally?

No, the ejector (Extractor....) is actually undercut on the bottom to kick cases up lol. The biggest issue tho is the fat front of the case hits the sidewall as it ejects, so even if the extractor did try flip it out at a lower angle, it would still get shoved up.

Ya know ...now that I've thought about it, I probably COULD turn a S-tac on its side and still have enough access to the parallax knob to adjust it. there's no markings on the knob anyway, my power markings would be on the side, and i wouldn't be able to use the throw lever, not that Im likely to anyway.

Second focal plane, or first?
I'd prefer a second focal plane, but that's a very minor concern so would be the first thing id compromise on.

What about a nightforce shv think there about in your price, but think I've heard the turrets aren't the best.
A friend of mine hunts with an SHV, and I've used his rifle quite a bit. I honestly don't remember If I liked his scope or not, which means it probably was exactly as nice to use as I expected....if that makes sense.
Can add it to the list, and I can go poke at his gun some more....its just up the street.

Yeah seems guys like the swfa over the nf and the swfa is like 1/2 price but the turrets are to hi for you.

Never seen a Valdada in person, looks like a pretty sweet hunting scope. Dosent really check the boxes for this one tho.
Maybe call vlad or how ever his name is spelled, the owner and tell him what you need, he may just have a demo scope around or something. The turrets and glass are supposed to be very good and there built like tanks.

On the advice of a few LR shooters I recently purchased a Vortex Golden Eagle for a new to me LR rifle.
This is definitely a scope that will get the job done
