The only gun I bought this year was a Turkish-made 12 gauge Berika 870 clone, specific model "FRN", imported by FedArm. I haven't had a real Remington 870 in the past so I don't have the real thing to compare it to, but this thing is very well made and looks fairly authentic. Lotsa other folks say the same.

I don't really like the stock that much. I'm ok with high grade plastic sometimes (which most of the furniture on this is) but I don't like the feel of it based on shape. The stock seems to snag my shoulder if I'm wearing bulky clothes (length of pull could be 1 inch less ideally), and the foregrip (pump) is also kind of oversized in my opinion. It covers 2/3 of the barrel and has two thicknesses to the overall contour. Overall it adds about 4x the thickness of the barrel to the front of the gun, which just seems stupid and unnecessary, not to mention uncomfortable. I would really just prefer a simple Ithaca-style pump grip. You know... Kind of minimalist and usually made of wood...but again I'm ok with plastic if it's well made.

A number of times I've searched online "Berika 870 clone FRN accessories furniture aftermarket", etc... and found nothing but peripheral topics. It's still very unclear to me if this shotgun has aftermarket furniture available or if it will accomodate most of the furniture which fit a true 870.

Any experience or educated opinions, folks?

Kinda sounds like those would likely fit mine. You know, I have a Bulgarian Hi-Power clone which takes just about anything you can put on a Hi-Power and would probably outlast ANY "true" Hi-Power...but truth be known, "true" Hi-Power slides don't fit it perfectly, although all other parts pretty much do. The slides are awkward even though they do fit. They're a few mm's too long. They work, but they look stupid, and probably have hidden pitfalls. I don't want to be in that kind of situation here. I suppose many suppliers would allow a return and full refund. I'm just sick of having to play that game.

I know nothing about that shotgun or if it takes Remington 870 furniture, but if it does fit the Magpul set is awesome.

I like some of Magpul's stuff. I'd still prefer if they made the classic "Ithaca" type pump grip though, even if it was built out of whatever that polymer is. Composite I guess? I really like that type of foregrip. Like the kind on the shotguns that 1930's correction officers carried, and police sometimes used as riot guns in Chicago and New York.

I have a Magpul grip on my AK. I think I could have done better but also alot worse. It's not a Hogue exactly, so I ended up putting a Hogue rubber grip wrap for another gun on it, and with that it was what the Magpul alone SHOULD have been. Sometimes I don't mind evening out the edges myself. The Magpul foregrip in the photo I posted is still actually a tad too square and bulky IMHO, but I'd take that over what I have now definately....

I have the Magpul buttstock on mine; I really like the vertical orientation of the grip without it being a pistol grip, and I love the ability to set the LOP to a nice short length. The matching forend is probably nice as well but I just ordered a Streamlight TL Racker forend with a built in WML.

Have a Turk 1911, and it is really nicely done...haven't tried swapping any Colt parts.
For the OP, have you tried contacting the MFG to find out if it really is a clone?
Or contacting the stock MFGs to see what they say? Yeah, I know, buy and return stinks, but that may be the only way to know for sure.

I can't speak about the Turkish 870 clones. I do have an older Norinco 98 and the Remington 870 stock fits fine along with the Choate stock but the stock bolts are different.

The Berika FNR is NOT a clone of the Remington 870. About the only thing that is interchangeable is the Ammo.
Nice shotgun though. Kicks like a mule even with bird shot. It really needs an upgrade stock pad. Those guys on YouTube that said it was pretty tame must have been on drugs.
Here are some pictures of one that worked for me.

I bought a MagPul SGA Remington 870 fore and aft stock set but they would not work. The profile of the FRN receiver is a flat face where the Remington is a recessed face. The FNR has an M8x1.25 nut as part of the receiver. The Remington has a 7/16" to 1/4-20 adapter nut on the receiver. The fore stock of the FRN is a twin bar charging mechanism that attaches very differently than the Remington which is also a twin bar but welded to a threaded tube. Sorry, I don't have pictures of the front end. You can see it in the Berika Arms instructional videos on YouTube though.
The FRN appears to be a copy of the Stephens Savage 320 or TriStar Raptor at least as far as furniture goes.
The ATI T3 But stock was a very simple change out, fits very well and reduces the trigger to butpad distance by about 1.5" And then adjustable if you want it longer.

Another difference from the Remington is this shotgun will not handle Agilla minishells. (You can fit 13 in the tube, but they don't feed) The Remington has two shell latches, one on the left and one on the right. The FRN only has one on the left. On the Remington, the dual shell latch system allows a mini shell to drop into the shell carrier and stops the next shell at the end of the tube. The shell can rattle around on the carrier, but doesn't fall out. On the FRN, when the left shell latch allows the shell to drop into the carrier, there isn't a second latch to stop the next shell. I.e., with mini shells you always get a double feed. With a full length shell, the back of the shell cams the front of the shell stop to prevent the next shell from dropping down. With a short shell, the latch is still open, allowing the double feed.
Hope this is helpful.

Great info Harlan, well researched .

Offhand, good luck on your quest... If it were me, given the actual use that riot gun was intended for... I’d just run as many rounds through it that you can while looking for a used 870 in the actual configuration you want. For a start look up Remington Wingmaster and you should find some ex-police examples that were actually carried and used on the street during my era - 1973 - 1995. Many will have a rough exterior but very little actual use...

For new, look at Remington Express in riot configuration (that’s what I actually have myself these days).

Good luck and if you find what you want - let the forum know.
