I dislike the M&P 2.0 grip texture and want to have it professionally fixed with either stippling or laser stippling with borders. Who does great work in your opinion?

Have you considered adding grip tape, Talon grips, or a grip sleeve? They cost less than having the firearm stippled, you won't ruin it if you do it yourself, and they add better traction (for me at least) than stippled polymer.

If you need to send the serial #'ed part out (not sure about the M&P design) I would look at other options hard first. It has gotten $$$ to ship a firearm around and with the current fiascos with USPS and others I wouldn't put anything in a box to ship now if I could help it.

IMO the texture on the 2.0 is too aggressive, but not enough to justify spending money to change it. You could easily spend $100 on shipping both ways not including the costs to have the work done. I've thought about using a file, sandpaper, or a course sharpening stone to knock the sharp edges off, but so far haven't done anything.

Okay, clarification: I carefully sanded the texturing on the sides to reduce the sharpness. I removed most of the texture in the grip module and it is too smooth. It currently has the worst of both worlds: sanded texture that is still annoying with a nearly smooth module that does not help much.

I will give the Talon rubber grip tape a whirl. Hopefully it won’t increase the size of the grip too much.

I would still like the names of a few companies that do really good work. Unfortunately, good SEO strategies are manipulating Google’s results and I am seeing subpar work on many sites that are at the top of the results.

You could always stipple it yourself as a last resort, provided you do not consider sentimental. I stippled and Cerakoted my daily carry and it was an easy job with a hobby shop wood burning tool and some YouTube instruction.

I found the Glock had no grip and I removed the ambi palm swell on the Right side E667A8A8-69D2-472D-9598-F13B2808CEA3.jpeg

Get a grip sleeve. Simple, cheap, and works. My son-in-law got a M&P for his birthday and really didn't care for the aggressive texture of the grip. I tried it and found it felt about like holding something coated with 30 grit abrasive. He put a grip sleeve on it and now both of us like it. The sleeve soaks up a little recoil too.

Like you, I feel the grip texture is a tad rough. After about 100 rounds, my hand can get a bit red.

I tried purchasing a 1.0 backstrap, but they aren't interchangeable. A fellow member suggested sanding it down lightly with a dremel. I am no expert so I decided against it. Instead I purchased Talon grips. I will say that I love the way they feel, however, the pointy edges sometimes pull out. You can cut them and it will take care of that issue.

I don't know about mailing the plastic portion of the handgun, but as it is the serialized part, I am thinking that it requires an FFL. I know if you are just sending the slide, there is not requirement there.

I continue to use the Talon grips which I am happy with, but according to the manufacturer, they are good for ~1 year.

Good luck.

I will give the Talon rubber grip tape a whirl. Hopefully it won’t increase the size of the grip too much.

Grip sleeves from Pachmayr and Hogue add considerable thickness to a grip. Useful for reducing recoil though. Grip tape companies like Talon and Traction grips don't add nearly as much. I personally like Traction grips because they are about half the price of Talons. And they don't fall off my handguns as easily.

I put Talon rubber on my Plastic M&P I.
It definitely made the grip as large as I can handle.
I'd rather a good stipple job if I knew a source that would not eat me up with firearm shipping.

My wife bought this one for a bed stand meanie as it was heavy and produces way low recoil as a result. She didn't like the grip texture either. Mr. Wilson helped her...
