No thanks on the FMJ. For many years my old dad hauled a 9mm corto in a 1934 Beretta, right up untill he actually had to use it. That evening he took the little thing out of his pocket cut the evidence tag off it and put it in the drawer, substituting an 1917 Smith 45 ACP. He said he didnt have enough gun.
With a kick butt hollow point way pumped up my thoughts are it may be viable, but the maybe part leaves me wondering

These are proven to be a reliable factory mag. It's great cuz it gives 8+1 and a pinky spot.

The Glock Store only sells Glock products, it is not owned by Glock. I don't know who makes them but they are not Glock factory made. Not saying they're not reliable, just not a factory part. The mag part may be a factory part, but the extension is not.

I am changing my view on carrying FMJ's.
After a CWP class a very good point was made about using target ammo (FMJ'S).
When defending yourself use DEFENSE AMMO. If for no other reason than when you are in court. And you will end up in court.
@Armored farmer recommended to me Federal HST. I think he has used it on a few varmints. It should work on low life's.

For me 380acp is an excellent deep conceal and backup option. ( s&w bodyguard, ruger lcp etc.)

Under current (and quite possibly future) conditions, I am content with FMJ in .380 because lack of availability of ammo means using what I can get, not what I would choose, and FMJ is more likely to feed well without extensive testing. Another important reason to choose .380 is that if I am limited to FMJ, .380 FMJ *might* over-penetrate slightly, but 9mm FMJ is almost guaranteed to over-penetrate greatly. Additionally, as shown by the Marksmanship Matters tests, a FMJ fired from a shorter barrel is less likely to over-penetrate than a bullet fired from a longer barrel. Just my thoughts. Sig P238HD.

I agree! With the current availability of ammunition you may be forced to use one type of ammo over what you may prefer. I will be carrying my 38 special loaded with hollow points. I will not be carrying my 380 until I secure enough ammo to do accuracy and function testing with it.
I will continue to carry HMS hard cast bear loads for wilderness hiking in my 41 mag over the Winchester platinum tip HPS I have. I still want penetration for bears eventhough two legged vermin is still more likely the threat I will encounter. When the ammo crisis is over I want to try some deep penetrators or other solid bullets in the 41 for wilderness carry.
That’s a good point. Though I do carry the little Sig, I am more likely to rely on a 642 loaded with hollow points, also.
In a self defense situation, functionality is much more important than accuracy. Almost anything is accurate enough for up close and personal work. Anything further away from you would get you in some deep stuff. Not very likely to have to any work further than 10 yards, and even out to 15, almost any round would be accurate to minute of torso.
I would look into the relatively new .380 99 Grain Hydra-Shok Deep ammo. Deeper penetration on avg than any other .380 JHP and gives potential for expansion.
