Anyone helping to ease ammo demand?

I've helped a few a couple people out with ammo. I remember what it was like to have nothing but the JHP's in my handgun magazines and AR mags during obama. I thought about selling some but I'm not quite decided on Obama. I'm glad I stocked up these past few years. Ammo I definitely need more of is .38spl, .380ACP, .32ACP and I'm not really happy with my 9mm situation. I'm pretty well stacked up with 5.56 to shoot and to store. I just prefer shooting my 9mm's typically so my stash got depleted.... got a sealed case of 9mm and an ammo can filled. That ain't much
 
I've sold some 7.62x39 ammo to a buddy so his daughter could have some to practice with and then sold him some American Made soft point ammo so his daughter can deer hunt with it. I made $4 per box of ammo. I was happy he was happy. I sold off some 7mm08 brass and 30-06 brass I was never gonna shoot.
 
I bought a bunch of expensive hunting bullets at an auction a year or so ago, for cheap. I've been trading straight across with a couple of members of this board for plain jane 150 gr bullets I can use in my M1. Saved enough for my son's 300 Win Mag, but I don't have a 30 caliber hunting rifle. I still have my 270 AI, but at 71, with bad knees, my days of hunting elk are over anyway. I'd rather shoot the M1 at the range.

We moved into a new house three years ago, and I'm just now getting the reloading room set up again. I'll likely trade any excess components for something I can use, once I get them inventoried.

I wouldn't sell anything to my fellow shooters with the sole purpose of making a profit, though.
 
I traded ammo I got for free from someone else. Hard to find anyone I know who has a Ruger 204. But I got some decent, if not old .380 and 9mm.

Best deal ever? No, not by a long shot, but I am satisfied with it anyways. I helped out a few people who were in need, and a box for myself.
 
I’ve been very tempted to sell off some primers but I feel I’d have seller remorse. The only things I really need more of is raw lead and powder for new guns I’ve gotten since the pandemic started and haven’t been able to stock up on. Rifle powders mostly.
Just to much uncertainty as to when components will be available again at non panic prices to sell anything. I’m in my early 30s and hope to be around another 50+ years so it’s not time to stop stocking up yet.
 
I've helped by not buying anything ridiculously priced and by always leaving something for the next guy when I do find it. Just last week was pleased to find Hornady XTPs in .400 back on the shelf at my LGS for $1 more than pre-Covid prices. Could have bought every box they had, but just grabbed three.
 
I've given away ammo to a friend who was gifted a gun but couldn't find ammo at the LGS, so I'm not really easing the ammo demand.

I wouldn't sell ammo unless I needed the money. Maybe it's selfish, but I've spent decades building a reserve of ammo, components and spare parts in the event of shortages or parts unavailability. Alleviating market demand by selling my reserve would conflict with my plan and nullify my efforts.

I feel for those who are just beginning their gun ownership, but the past has taught us that these shortages are both temporary and constantly repeating.
 
Not me. I gave my friends ammo during the last shortage and encouraged them to get into reloading or stock up on ammo. None listened. None got into reloading. Now they give me shade for having ammo to burn, ask me for free ammo, and agree, just like last time, that they will "definitely get into reloading" when components are available again. They won't, just like last time. This time i'm holding on to my components and ammo. No freebies for people unwilling to prepare even while knowing what is coming down the pike.
 
I ease the demand by not adding to it. Only rounds I have fired since this mess started was 2 magazines of 45ACP in my 1911 to make sure it worked after I finished it. Haven't bought any rounds. I let go of a box or two when I am doing instructional classes to a new gun owner that can't find any. If I need any trigger therapy for myself, I have about 5000 rounds each of airsoft, BB, and pellets I can use.
 
I didn't buy any of the 22LR or 9mm ammo I saw on the shelves in Sportsman's Warehouse in Pocatello last week. The fact is, I didn't even check the prices on it. I did however, see a half dozen people in line (practicing social distancing) at the checkout counter, and each one of them was carrying two boxes of (I think it was Federal) 9mm ammo.
I was back in Sportsman's again yesterday, didn't see any 9mm ammo left, and the only 22LR that was left was some kind of "Midas" match ammo for about 15 bucks a box of 50. I guess "Midas" must mean it's made out of gold. I didn't buy any. I figured I'd leave it for the people that really need it.;)
 
I learned after the last couple of panics and stocked up the last few years. Ammo was ridiculously cheap, especially when there were rebates.
I’ve got more than I can ever shoot.
I’m not planning on selling any because I don’t need the money, we don’t know what’s coming down the road (especially if the Dems win Georgia) and I’ve got a grandson that might need it eventually.
 
Last summer here in Iowa we actually had a shortage fish hooks if you can believe that. Panfish ones were the hardest to come by.

I just ordered a new fishing rod and reel and unless someone starts hoarding worms, I'm in good shape.

As a new reloader who has been the recipient of a similar act of generosity , I applaud you. A friend sold me 3K SPP for $40 per 1000 to get me started. I stocked up on target ammo when Wal-Mart was clearing their shelves at dirt cheap pricing. Not knowing how long these shortages will last, I won't sell any and cut down on my shooting.

Midas + is excellent match grade Benchrest rifle ammo.

Bought most of it cheap and stacked it deep, only shooting ammo I am set up to reload for, factory ammo in storage. I would love to find a reloading trading partner locally. I have a few loading components and brass that I just ont need. Not into shipping. So if anyone on Long Island wants some Small Rifle Primers and .45 ACP brass, I could use some pistol primers large or small and .38 brass.
 
I gave a buddy a gallon ziploc filled with 5.56 as a thank you (he put a second AC unit on my river trailer and didn’t gouge me like some other repair shops would), I’ve also brought out lots of .45 and .38-.357 when a group of us went shooting... but no sales.

I think I’ll find a leprechauns pot ‘o gold in the middle of the Mojave desert before I find spp on the shelves though. If I burn through the ones I have this year I may have to start swapping. :(

I need to get around to figuring out a way to offload some of the 22 LR I bought after the last panic. I bought 6,000 rounds about 4 years ago and have shot 100 round since.
 
I looking to find a new loader close to me and give them a large jug of clean, de-primed 9mm brass to help get them started if they shoot that caliber.

I guess I have helped by not buying anything. I have recently sold some reloading tools that were surplus to me and some brass. I priced this stuff at pre-civid prices. I also sold some guns last spring and I got good prices for them. They were auctioned so the buyers set the prices and I feel no guilt for the prices I got.
 
I gave 300 rounds of ammo to friends who were made nervous by the angry crowds of Proud Boys / QAnon types.
