How can we have a "Favorite Movie Shotgun" thread without a "Favorite Movie Rifle" thread??

I will throw in Cowboy and Sgt. Oleonowski and their M-2 Carbines in Go Tell The Spartans.

A must see movie that I watch once a year or so.

Another one is 'Lost Command'.

Not quite rifles, but do you want to be the one to tell Anthony Quinn?

Shotguns. I always liked the shotgun in "Valdez is Coming" with the late Burt Lancaster as Valdez. The shotgun is a rather ordinary looking double barrel, break open shotgun. Valdez describes is a 'rabbit gun'. What Valdez doesn't mention is the shot shells he has and uses on occasion.

After going to the Planet of the apes 5 movie drive in marathon. I fell in love with the Planet of the Apes rifle. Getting one was one of the reasons I was put on this earth

So my 1st attempt was hounding my parents to get me one.

I got this.. not the best ape gun but I loved the mask.. and who can say no to a tommy gun.

Second childhood attempt was to get a Mego toy and live vicariously though the toy
but Mego was cheap and reused guns from other molds they had. This may have been OK for other kids, But I knew God would not permit me to be sidelined on my quest.

Then years later I found out about movie props and read a non pictured
ad about someone selling ape props and had one of the original ape rifles.
My heart sunk when I saw it was one of the background guns. I wanted to shoot it.
My quest continues

Finally I was able to get one of the aluminum shelled hero props and married a m1 carbine to it .

Now I can say "Damn dirty apes" and mean it

For historical accuracy one of all time best movies is "The Wind and the Lion" which is about the Perdicaris Affair when Teddy Roosevelt was president. It was written and directed by John Milius, who is genuine firearms expert and collector. It shows period correct rifles, pistols, shotgun and even a Colt "potato digger" machine gun in correct use and settings. It's also a great movie with Sean Connery in his best role.

I remember being mightily impressed my Bob Valdez’s big box of goodies, and liked his rabbit gun, but I favored his Sharps rifle. ;)

I have yet to own a Sharps, or a reproduction, but did have a Browning 1885 for a while, and now have a trio of the Ruger No. 1 single-shots. Something about the Rugers makes them fit me more comfortably, and kick me less, even with the Ruger shooting a more-powerful cartridge. Eventually, I’d like to add a decent Sharps reproduction, and a Remington or repro Rolling Block.
