Sorry, another budget 9MM thread

When the Taurus could be had for under $200 I thought it was a good deal. They're now going for $265 + and I don't think that is a good deal.

I recently bought an IWI Masada for $455. It's optic ready, looks great, and shoots like a champ. It runs with guns that I've spent twice as much on. Best of all, IWI have a proven legacy. Nothing wrong with Sarsilmaz, but they aren't IWI.

Every now and then (even recently) I've seen Beretta APXs around $350 or less. Viable option?

These days you are sort of at the mercy of what's available. If the SAR seems nice enough, go for it. I am not a big fan of Taurus, so that would be a no go for me. A budget pistol, however, is a budget pistol.... you get what you pay for.

My Brother Has a Taurus 45 and I hated the Trigger. Very High Poundage and Gritty, But The Gun Eats everything and is VERY reliable. Shot it recently and was surprised that the trigger had smoothed out somewhat and wasn't bad. For the Money Not a bad Gun. Also fairly Light for a carry Piece.

I've had 2 Taurus PT1911's... one shot so far left I was not able to correct for it, even after swapping parts with the other pistol, and the other had improperly heat treated metal... the slide metal peened so bad I couldn't get the firing pin retention plate off without a grinder. Both are Gonesville, now....

LGS also had a Canik but I think it was $449. They have a ton of M&P, Sig and Glock. Usually a lot of Rugers but low at this time.

Me and my sons all own Glock 48s, the place also had Glock 43X..all $449..$520 OTD...

Congrats! I think either way you couldn’t go wrong.

Hope you like it when you get to have it. A budget 9mm thread is preferred over another 32 thread.

If you can find one, I really like the Ruger Security 9, 15 rounds, and fits my medium sized hands well.

My edc used to be a ruger lc9s, but, my kid "borrowed" it so I just pocketed my lcp. My bedside gun has been the security 9 since I broke it in, and for days when I want a little more than the 380 in my pocket or on my hip, I have recently started carrying the Sec9 instead.

I would lean towards the SAR generally except for one thing. Spare mags are very hard to come by, and the ones I saw only included one. If not for that I would have already bought one.

That's good. At least you were able to find some. A usually try to have at least 3 mags per gun, so inability to get spares is a deal breaker.

Well now you have enough mags to run that gun for 200,000 + rds. In all my years of shooting I have never ever had a centerfire mag fail in any way. I had CZ mags that have had well over 10,000 rds through them over a 10 year period without a single problem. I have never taken a mag apart either.

I have quite a few Taurus guns but they are "Old" Taurus. 1980's and early '90s, PT92, 99 etc. I've never had one break. Of course as my salary increased I started upping my game, especially as I started hearing horror stories about the new Taurus line. CZ's are my choice now but to get back on topic my Best Friend recently showed up at my range with a Taurus G2C. When he offered it to me to shoot I was prepared to say "Oh that's a nice gun" no matter what if it worked. It's got a long trigger pull but when I got used to it I found it was a nice gun. Accurate and reliable and just nice to shoot. He's got about five hundred rounds through it with no malfunctions. I wouldn't be afraid to CCW it. My "Old" Taurus bunch.

I picked up a Sig p365 for $399 at a LGS black friday of 2019 (had the safety). Picked up Sig P320 Carry for $350, was part of the CPO program but looks and functions perfect. Added the x-carry grip to the p320 and it feels perfect. Love both of them.

I've owned and sold most of the guns on this list except for the newest ones, that is until I shot my first KelTec. It was the P11 which is a double stack and had the worst trigger I have ever pulled. The trigger got better the more I shot the gun but was never really great. It was incredibly accurate and would eat anything that I stuffed in the mag and on budget guns that's a good thing. . Then KelTec came out with the single stack version, the PF-9 and it became my EDC in a Galco Pocket Holster. I've carried it from the time I get out of bed until I lay down at night. Just like its big brother, it is accurate, accurate enough that I scored a perfect score with it the last renew of my Texas Concealed Handgun License, which really surprised the instructor! As you can see the normally rough holster is very smooth from many years of carry. I've done some work on this gun and the trigger is very nice now.

I just wish Taurus also made the G3C in 32 APC.

i have a taurus 1911 that is great. never a problem, accurate (or at least, more accurate than it's owner), and will shoot any and all ammo you put through it.

Would like to see this as well, I don't buy it. I'm just a little skeptical these days, especially when all I can find about the test is below.

In searching for this "test" the only mention I can find is this article by Range365 that mentions the 90,000 round test in passing. Would like to see their testing regimens.

The SAR9 does look like a decent pistol in it's own right, despite my skepticism.

Will be nice to get some more reviews from people here in the US on them.
