Having accidentally walked within a few feet of a few copperheads or cottonmouths....

..many of us immed. stop and step backwards, or step sideways (both cottonmouths panicked and raced away). As a second response it's then so much easier to pull and aim.
My choice would be a long stick to attract a snake's attention

I'm guessing you don't live in the vicinity of venomous ones?

My wife stumbled upon this one while in our hay barn. I asked her why she was shooting pictures instead of lead..

Your wife has a well developed sense of aesthetics. But if the poisonous ones are where I may come across them, they gotta go.

As I typed this it occurred to me that I took the snake shot out of my revolver two months ago, and, since it's 18 degrees outside, why am I discussing snakes?

I didn’t mean to start a “worth” thread. I have killed snakes with bow and arrow, clubs, pellet guns and .22lr. I do like the shot shells for pistols. I have used the .22 shot shells on rats. They need 2 shots $12! I just wanted to give people a chuckle in how silly it has got. Better to laugh than cry. I do like the photos that have been posted.

Got to witness a leo killing a 10 ft plus python with a machete. Someone's pet got loose or someone let it go. Dont care that thing was huge!!!

thats an evasive species so yeah, I'd go outta my way to kill it.

I’ve resisted commenting on these crazy price threads but, Jaysus, $33 for a 50 rd box of .22? That is far, far beyond crazy. But if they weren’t getting that they probably wouldn’t be asking that. Which is almost inconceivable.

I guess (OK, I don't have to guess) that I would still pay these insane prices to get ammo to take kids & family out shooting than to overpay to take them to; a professional sporting event, a country music concert or most anything but a damn tractor-pull these days.

It's all a matter of perspective, folks.

Todd.
