What's Your Daily Load Out?

Do you mean what do we carry when we leave the house? I don’t carry compact pistols. I carry a FS 1911 in 10mm....on my hip. Occasionally I exchange it for a FS XD in 45. Also on my hip. Both in Blackhawk holsters. Some may argue theres a tactical advantage I may be giving up. But I’ve found people today can’t even see what’s right in front of them, much less what is semi-concealed.

I wear hoodies year round. I tried IWB holsters. No go. When people stop walking into closed doors, light poles, and wishing wells, I might change my tactics. But people have their faces so buried in their phones today they’re never going to notice the bottom 1.5” of my holster sticking out. They’re not going to see it because their priority is in their hand.

My EDC usually consists of a Kahr CM9 in a DeSantis SOF-TUCK holster with a couple of spare magazines, a Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA flashlight, a Kershaw Leek, and of course, my cell phone. If it's particularly cold out I wear an old hoody I got from the NRA store which has two inner pockets with a holster and magazine carrier, which uses velcro to secure them with on the inside.

Commander sized 1911, one extra mag, old flip phone in holster on my belt.
Keys. Chap stick, SAK, lighter, money clip, Kershaw clip knife, and half the time a pocket gun.

Usually a 637 in a pocket holster or in an ankle holster. Sometimes a Colt Govt. in a shoulder holster. Always have a Leatherman Multi-tool on my belt.

Are you asking specifically what pistol people carry or what items they carry on their person on a daily basis? What are you thinking you need to find more room for? I carry my Glock 19 sized pistol, keys, wallet, couple lengths of paracord, lighter, small flashlight (takes a single AA), small multitool, permanent marker and a SOF-TT W TQ. Additional items may be added depending on the destination or activities for the day.

The people who it might be worth considering hiding a gun from aren't the ones with their faces in their phone. It's people who are used to seeing and identifying weapons who are the ones to be concerned about.

G19, magnum size can of udap, a razor knife and my Mora. Not including the first aid kit and other health and safety related tools I keep in my truck.

I leave my right pocket empty because when I'm not carrying the Kimber I slip a LCP inside that pocket, or when I'm working in the yard I have a NAA .22 in the front right pocket. Wallet in right rear, speed strip in left rear. Watch on right hand.



When I'm inside the house, all I have on me is the pocketknife, phone, and a cheaper quartz watch. The knife isn't necessarily for defense, but I've daily carried a knife since I was 12 for random cutting needs and I feel naked without one

Alpinist? Another nice one I gave to my son, in addition to a Sub I bought new in 1970. He's enjoying them and starting to build a nice collection.

My EDC (loadout sounds a little too tactical for me, lol) consists of a LCP in a kydex pocket holster left front pocket, a Gerber Leek, and the usual wallet, phone, keys, and an automatic watch, either Swiss or Japanese. My usual check is to pat my front and rear jeans pockets to be sure there's something in each before I leave the house.

I don't always carry, and rarely carry a second magazine, so the knife will go in my left, strong side, front pocket if I'm not carrying. Otherwise it goes in a coat pocket. But I've also got folding knives in our cars and on each of my motorcycles in case I forget it.

Walther Q4 with a sight and TLR-7A light or PPS with Viridian C5L. Either ride in a White Hat holster on a Kore nylon belt with a spare magazine on my support side. The Q4 makes my 1911 look tiny. In or clipped to my pockets are a Fenix LD30 light, folding knife of some type, key fob, handkerchief, earbuds, medication case, wallet, phone, hardened pen, and 3oz can of pepper spray.

Sometimes I will carry a packet of Quickclot powder and a CAT in an ankle holster. But at that point I feel pretty weighted down and depends on where I am going.

We can go down any tactical rabbit hole you want. It’s great if you have you’re head on a swivel 24/7 always looking and observing for gun prints on shirts. Because if you don’t, then you’re not being “vigilant” (aka observed as paranoid and likely viewed by someone else like you, as a potential threat). I have other things to do with my time, like live a life.

I know where my exits are. I know where my potential cover is. I causally observe people for things out of the ordinary (like looking around a lot). I instinctively profile people. I sit facing the front door at restaurants and always try to sit in booths. I don’t go to malls (for a couple reasons). I also know the bad guy is likely going to be focused on the prize. Not the potential threat.

My “training” came from 2 career S.W.A.T. DRE and DT instructors. It started at about age 7-8 and it continues occasionally to this day. It’s not something I even think about anymore because it’s just apart of who I am. People have to live the way they see fit. I’ve just been around this game a long time and I’m confident in my tactics and training.

Maybe someday it will be posted that I passed because some perp got the drop on me. It’s much more likely that I will pass from old age, cancer, or a car accident because some texter blew a light and hit me from behind.

Glock 17 IWB, usually a BUG somewhere, never sure where or what size. And a small pocket knife.

Also.... My line of work requires a briefcase for work items on the go. That’s a Filson briefcase for me. Portfolio, pens, laptop, phone charger, laptop charger, business cards, leatherman, earbuds, and several spare mags contained inside that.

Today's load-out in my Wranglers:

Front Left Pocket- NAA .32 Guardian with 6+1 Fiocchi ball carried in gun show special panel holster.

Rear Left Pocket- Wallet

Rear Right Pocket- Spare mag for Guardian in knife pouch and handkerchief.

Front Right Pocket- Chapstick, coins, pen, smart phone. Generic 100 lumen light and cheap Buck folder clipped to opening.

Front Right Watch Pocket- NAA Mini .22 Short BUG with 5 CCI HV LRN.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Being vigilant is good of course, but doesn't really have much of anything to do with my post that you quoted.

To the OP, I carry my EDC pistol (Glock 20) in a Blackhawk OWB holster, and I have a single-mag pouch that clips to my belt and has a velcro strap to keep the mag from falling out. G20 strong side 3:30, mag pouch opposite side. Then my pockets are free for whatever other stuff. I found IWB doesn't feel comfortable for me, nor does appendix. And it's easier (for me) to dress around my full-size G20 than to learn to shoot a smaller pistol. I own a Smith 642, but it's very challenging to shoot. I shoot the G20 a LOT better. An untucked button-down shirt in the summer conceals everything well if the shirt is a size large, and of course in the winter, vests and jackets make hiding a full-size gun easy peasy.

I do not carry wallets, keys, and phones inside my waist band, or on the belt, and do not normally carry guns or mags inside pockets, so there was no conflict in finding plenty of room for everything, when I had a consistent daily carry*. Blades are more fundamentally important than guns, so, yes, I carry knives. Within my home state of Texas, blade laws are friendlier than handgun laws.

*Age-related issues, and pandemic conditions, have recently altered what and how I carry, and that remains in a state of experimentation and change, so, I won’t go there.
