Yes. Pierce can do the Remage Barrel Nut setup for me so I can buy prefits like I do for my Savage Actions./
Just haven't committed to it. Plus they are 1 hour drive for me to go up there and pick their brains.

@Walkalong - I know either you or Sam (?) are still hanging onto that Seekins. Just FYI, I talked to Glen last week on a different subject and he mentioned he’s working on an offering to convert the Havak’s to cock-on-open to be more competitive in the PRS market, and will offer conversion for existing Havak owners. I like my Havak, but that cock-on-close differentiation has been a notable limiting factor for me using it in competition, so I’m excited to be able to convert once they’re up and running with the new design.

This year seems like a good time to slowly build a new 6mm (as opposed to depleting my primers in 1-2 years going to matches monthly before supplies normalize). Have never considered 6 GT - my mind is still in the 6x47 in trying to tune for both 600 & 1000 yards.

FWIW our match director out here in CA shoots Dasher for F-class mid-range championships (not sure what he loads for 1k yards) and is holding State Champion title for a while now -- 2 years ago, he cleaned a 2-days aggregate State Championship with a score of 1200 - 60X (or somewhere around there) using his benchrest lightgun. Other benchresters w/ their light guns participated too, and does very well - the one who placed 1st as Senior High Master class shoots 6BRX I think, his score was in the 1190's. Man is in his 80s and we love helping carry all his gears to the firing line

That same championship I was shooting 200gr bergers (in .308) and could not keep up, but another F-TR shooter with the same load shot his in a 32" barrel did manage to score 1198! he only dropped 2 bc of fishtail wind and placed 1st as FT-R and 2nd as State Champion. Benchresters keep us honest too

ps: I don't personally know of anyone loading 6 GT at the moment- but if you're doing in the future, would love to see what kind of ES or SD you get compared to the Dasher

For what your wanting to do if your budget is 4K I’m gonna suggest the following for a lights out combo that is plenty accurate. Bergara hmr with a nightforce of your liking. Nightforce for the money is bombproof. You don’t have to worry about knocking it out of zero glass in their lower end is plenty. I only use ffp but that’s up to you they have a fair amount of options. I have put some nightforce scopes through some serious situations and I’ve never had one lay down on me or loose zero. I can’t say that about any other brand of scope I’ve used.

Send ‘em my way, I’d love to see the carnage. Frankly, that part doesn’t surprise me though. I do know a few guys who do well with Rock Creek barrels, but I ran my factory installed Rock Creek on my Havak 2 full grains below max, and it still burned out faster than any of my other four 6 creed barrels. That barrel hemorrhages speed like crazy. I lost over 100fps by 750 rounds, and it was a steady decline after that. I couldn’t pump enough powder by the end to keep my speed. But with Bartlein barrels, life has been pretty good. Definitely will be better if I can swap the Jewel for a Diamond, and convert to cock-on-open.

For your competition rifles what is your approach to cleaning? What do you use and how do you do it?

It doesn’t have to be squeaky clean to shoot well, but I don’t like to go over 500ish rounds without getting one pretty well clean.

So, since I've no context; who makes the barrel pictured above?

On that note, do you find peak accuracy after a period of fouling at all before your reach 500 shots?
I clean to bare steel sometimes and usually took at least 1 match (+/- 75 rounds) for my groups to settle to a steady .3 MOA, more or less. At bare steel, the group is roughly .5MOA. But then again I don't have a very premium barrel make. Some fouling helps me.

<2MOA yeah thats a great group ! I can also reach 2.2 MOA +/- 0.1 with a 308 but the load becomes way too hot, that it punctures primer 75% of the time. This load ( stern warning: not recommended, it is probably unsafe ) is 44.00 gr (c) of IMR 4064 + 185gr Berger + Small primer Lapua palma brass = I can hit 10-ring (1MOA) at 600 yards 15 out 20 times per string (with wind flags, but my wind reading isnt that strong). At 100 yards, I can put 20 touching holes measuring 0.22 inches center to center. But just to get there, the loads are over-pressured.

Now I load 42.5 gr of powder maximum and the grouping resembles your picture on the right .
