Not at all. Just pointing out what ammo is going for in relation to a popular more easily found ammunition. .44 Special is not plentiful in stores that I frequent and it is even less so now. If you have your heart set on the .44 Special you should be aware of this.

That it the only hiccup I foresee..
 
Be nice, be helpful, and be attentive. There are people around that aren't trying to get every last dime out of their stuff and a lot are willing to help a young person out if that person seems genuinely deserving.

If you're looking for something just to have, as in "something is better than nothing" you're not constrained by caliber wars or revolver vs semi. You can find the package deal that includes ammo.

Or

Since you have "something" in a .22, you can be more discerning and try to not get raked over the coals. Tough times though...trying to be patient and vigilant at the same time. Educate yourself as much as possible about your options, and be ready to jump when the right deal presents itself.
I wouldn't buy a gun unless I had access to ammo, and I wouldn't buy ammo unless I had a gun to stuff it in.

Due to a personal bias and a slight medical issue, I'd prefer a revolver. Something in .38/.357, or a .44 Spl or .45 Colt.

This is where rolling your own insures as long as you have components you will always have plenty of ammunition in the cartridges of your choice. Tomorrow I'll finish up the last of my 45 ACP I have going, then move along to some 38 and 357 before finally getting to 45 Colt. I know I have 45 colt brass around here somewhere. :)

So when I saw 1000 round box of CCI brass 9mm for $899 today on grab a gun, I looked back in my purchases and saw I had bought it on 3/20/19 from PSA for $169. Wow, it went up over $700 in less than 2 years? Someone is making a lot more money than they want to own up to, and I don't think it is the manufacturer.

If GrabAGun can sell it for $899........BRAVO!
1. No one forces anyone to pay that price.
2. No one is making a lot more money unless it actually sells.
3. It's their property not yours.
4. Complaining about the price of guns and ammo gets old.:(

I don't disagree with anything you said, other than perhaps #1. If that is the only ammo someone can find, they may feel they have to purchase it, especially all the new gun owners we are seeing this year. And I agree very much with #4, it was an observation more than anything else as I had purchased from PSA less than two years ago. Thank you.
