The next rifle?

There is are a lot of model's out there, early flat back, pre accutrigger, m 10, 110 had wood stocks, the m11, 111 series were synthetic. The difference between the m 11, 111 is that the 2 digit code is for short action length, 3 digit code is long action designation. With the improvement of the accutrigger came the end of the flat back reciever in favor of the round recievers in manufacture today. They also a few years back changed the 10, 110 to indicate tactical models, and the 11, 111 are sporting, varmint, target rifles.

Though 11's are a short action, the action length is only about a half inch shorter, easier to mount optics on, perhaps a little bit stiffer due to a shorter length.

The 12 is usually a heavy, barrel target or varmint rifle, cabellas, bass pro m12 fv, is a cabellas spec that savage built for their store chain, like the field and stream, Dick's model 11vt. There are other 12's like the m 12 bvss, much higher-end in the savage line, is a laminated stock, stainless, short action.

Hope this helps.

The possibilities are endless and all of the replys before mine have about covered them. The 22-250 shoots faster and flatter than the 223 and only cost a little more to shoot. You won't find as much free brass for it as you do the 223. The 243 and the Creedmoors jump the cost up more as they burn more powder and require more powder. The 308 is accurate and finding an accurate load is easy. You have lots of choices.

My next rifle is already in the works. It will be a copy of the Remington Tactical Rifle with a short heavy barrel and will be chambered in 308. I have a new Remington 40X action on the way and I'm waiting on a Krieger barrel. I just received a new Nightforce 2.5-10 scope and I already have a HS Precision varmint stock, a Jewell trigger and a Badger "0" moa rail and a set of Badger rings. Waiting is the hard part!

Picher: I had a .22-250 in the 1960's and really liked it. It won me lots of turkeys at Turkey Shoots in Waterville and Boothbay, Maine during the 60's-80's.

The more I search this the more intrigued I've become with this model 10. If it had a bull barrel I'd already have it but because it doesn't I am hesitant thinking I should hold out. May have to go make an offer.

There was a 12 fv barrel for sale or trade in buy sell trade parts. @Joe Texas had, dont know if still available. Thread title $50 26" savage barrel Texas. Fairly easy to remove and replace the barrels on savage rifles, would have to open up the barrel channel up accommodate the heavy barrel.

I didn’t remove it. It is actually under rifles and shotguns for sale. Posted February 5th. I have an offer on it in a PM from a member. If you are interested, feel free to PM me and if he doesn’t take it you are next in line.

That's a pretty nice piece of wood on your new rifle. Congrats on your acquisition. Post a range report when you take her for a test drive.

Thanks and most definitely. If it's really good maybe some target pix's as well.

My m11 has been an moa rifle so far, I'm still looking for a perfect load for it. Its not bad just not the tack driver that some of my other rifles are, still I use it for less expensive trigger time than my 7mm08.
