The venerable .380acp carbine, reimagined

Not sure that .25acp is going to see a lot of benefit from a 16" barrel. It might, though. Makes me wonder about an AR-7 type of thing.

Yes, exactly that one. Thank you. Also the Dreyse, too.

Maybe not but I'm suprised no one has done it at all. Not "some" or "a few"......none, or at least as far as I know.

Seems like a reloadable 22 analog would be handy at such times. I can't imagine they use much powder either

Also, taking something Ian said in the Dreyse .32acp video, a .25acp carbine would be ridiculous quiet with a 16" barrel.

Now, the lack of widely-used magazines for .380, .32acp, and/or .25acp almost argues for a tubular magazine.
So, a toggle-lock Winchester lever action, maybe? A lever action able to take .32 rounds could sell a few copies, especially in the range that accepts .327--maybe, perhaps.

An AR-7 in .25acp would be interesting, and might not be as finicky as the .22lr versions (again, maybe, perhaps).

But, a Ruger-Marlin Camp Carbine in .380 (with either Walther or colt-pattern mags, maybe) would probably be a giggle machine.

Now there is a machine shop class project. Building a bolt and barrel fo a AR7 reciever and getting a magazine to work in .25 ACP.

Got to say my left thumb and index finger are turning black and blue thinking about being crushed in the old single stage while trying to seat bullets...

where would one find a16+inch barrel for a .25ACP?

I believe the cartridge is actually semi rimmed , as is the .32 acp and that could cause issues.

For magazines, easiest answer, off the top of my head, would be Beretta magazines, for availability/reliability.
Using somebody else's R&D ought to skip over the semi-rimmed design issues.
Popularity would then drive the aftermarket vendors.

The barrel, we might have to find a suitable SOT to whittle the things.

I wonder if you could construct something like a Winchester M 67 single shot, split bridge locks on bolt handle, separate cocking single shot from say a take off barrel from an '03 or M1917 (not that those are as easy to find as in my youth) for .32 ACP. 16.5 inches of barrel from breech maybe. Shoot chamber it right and maybe .32 S&W Long and not as well.

Few parts to fabricate. Straight forward stock channels.

Doable with .25ACP for sure, modify and existing M67 with a barrel liner and new bolt group ( or reconfigure the existing one), cut extractor/sear to fit new chamber.

Wonder if there is enough metal to do that with an M67 in .32ACP?

No one would buy one but it would be neat.

FWIW. A friend has one of the Hi-Point 380 carbines and he says that is notably more accurate than any of the 9X19 Carbines which he has shot. He is a good shot and has a half dozen PCCs so I pay attention. His analysis is 1. It is fun. 2. It would make a really effective small game rifle.
Also, It is possible to create usable 380 loads with 9x19 dies. Because the parabellem is a tapered case 380s won't be fully resized in those dies but the front half of the case will get reduced to hold the bullet and there is enough adjustment in most die sets to allow for case mouth flaring and bullet seating.

Mine is like.....one hole at 50 yards accurate. It's an old style 9mm

Maybe even Phoenix Arms since they are supposed to be cheap and still made.

But a tube fed is fine by me too. Really someone should do this

The .380 sits well in my front pocket, but honestly, I would have no use for it in a carbine. I don't think it would be a good seller at all. I would prefer either the 9mm or .22 as others have previously stated.

Just my opinion, but a 380 carbine is like the old 32 and 36 caliber muzzle loaders - good for small game.

Now the Hi Point carbines while FUGLY, are very reliable. I have one in 40 S&W that is not only very reliable but is also very accurate. And yes Hi Point has excellent customer service if you should actually need it.

I've always like the idea of a slightly (as little as possible) beefed up tube-fed Marlin Model 60 chambered in 380acp. Why? Heck if I know... but I want one.

Henry - for the 32, no magazines required.

.32 H&R Magnum, .32 Long, .32 S&W (.32 Short) and .32 ACP (.32 Auto), .327 Federal Magnum

I just picked up some more of that American Eagle in the video for my Henry this past weekend. If the price isn't obscene I buy every box I come across which isn't much!

The ability to safely shoot so many cartridges in the Henry was part of what convinced me to finally buy one. Just in time for The Panic to take off and ammo to dry up.

A .380acp carbine doesn't do much for me, but a small semi-auto carbine in .32acp would probably sway me. Hopefully not one as ugly as a Hi Point!

Ditto. Tho- I prefer a King gate for loading.

If you can find one Henry just redesigned their lever actions to include side-gates. About two months after I bought my non-side gate one.
