Holy Grail Revolver

One that I may never justify spending the money on, but might happen is a Korth, and the ones that will happen but might take a while is a new Python and a BFR 5” 44 mag.

Would anybody shoot their GRAIL GUN or just take it out of the safe and fondle it ?

I have nice paintings for decoration but my guns serve one purpose, to be shot by me and I have expectations about accuracy, not looks.

Shooting them with dirty reloads is fun!

This is my favorite revolver, it is a .22 l.r. Korth 24series made in 1969. I bought it about a dozen years ago used and have had it going to the range with me almost every week since then. Ratzeburg Korths are so well made and finished, that they do not show use, only abuse.

Glad to see a bunch of the QUEENS out of the safe and strutting their stuff.
I hope many more come out of the safes. They were made for enjoyment.

Got it! S&W 25-5 “Classic”. Now I have to wait 10 days to pick it up. They only had one. This one has obviously been handled. There is a small scratch on the barrel. Their other stores in San Diego and Ontario had one each but I am not driving 100+ miles in the hopes the ones at the other stores may be perfect. I am very happy with my acquisition. I paid $100 less than MSRP, so no gouging. I cannot wait to pick it up.

It appears to have Altamont Roper grips.

Nice!!! Congats!

Saweeet. I passed up a nickel plated 25-? In 45 Colt not too long ago. Long story but should have grabbed it on the spot cause it went from 650ish to 1350ish over night. Literally.
Happens every time I want to sleep on a purchase decision.:fire:

I know how you feel. I missed out on a model 27 because I waited a day. I missed out on a 686 because I hesitated. I saw this one on this guns and ammo franchise store website I have never shopped at and called them to see if they would hold it for me. They said that they could not. I was sure I was going to show up and those words I have heard so many times before “Sorry, but we sold it earlier.”
I am very happy I was able to get this one. Very happy.

On a less lofty note - this past year I've been secretly pleased to NOT run across a TRR8 from S&W given what folk will want for them these days - when found.

When/if things return to *normal*, I'll likely buy the first reasonably priced one that I can hold in my hands first. I've passed on a couple of internet listings already.

Todd

Todd, Grab-a-Gun has the TRR8 in stock now. I got an email a little while ago. They want full MSRP of $1360.00 for it.
I posted this in the “.357 Double Action” thread a few minutes ago as well.

Thanks for that for sure, but, after reading a couple of hands-on reviews, I'd like to be able to inspect one prior to popping for it.

Seems even though - *ironically* - they are supposed to be Performance Center guns, some shoddy inspection/assembly has occurred on them and I don't care to cope with returns if I can help it.

I sure do appreciate the head-up though.

Todd.

For me, being as I have a love for matching rimfire/centerfire handguns,,,
My Grail Gun is a Smith & Wesson Model 45.

View attachment 983454

It's a plain Jane S&W K-frame,,,
Essentially a Model 10 chambered in .22 LR.

The last one Is saw on Gunbroker was in pristine condition,,,
The buy-it-now price was 2,300 bucks.

Back around 2005 or so,,,
I had the chance to buy a very nice one for 900 bucks,,,
I foolishly passed on it and have been kicking myself ever since then.

Aarond

.
I saw a .22 a few years ago on gunbroker marked US POSTAL SERVICE. it went $sky-high$. It was pristine.

Ruger Bisley Turnbull, but they generally sell now for more money than makes sense to me so I'll never scratch that itch.

What’s your holy grail revolver? Make it a gun that you do not already own but wish you did. Give enough description that someone can look it up and investigate it if they wish.

Mine is the Colt Bankers Special 22 lr. These were snub nose revolvers built on the Police Positive Frame which is the frame size that was lengthen to make the Police Positive Special to accommodate the 32-20 and the 38 Special which the Detective Special was built on. These were kind of the AirLites of their day but all steel construction. At it’s lightest in the 38 Colt offering. Good clean ones go for a pretty penny.
Yes, but you can mate a DS 2" barrel onto a Police Positive (.38 S&W not special)and voila you have a square butt BS

While I am no longer looking as my Rossie 720 in .44 Special serves to anchor my night stand, and my Total Titanium Taurus in .32 H&R Mag serves as my carry, I have owned a number of S&W's , but the M66 with RB and 3" barrel I would like to have. My remaining brother has one and I think I will let him keep it. We both are to close to no longer having a need or want.
