And yes this is gun related. This is specifically designed to be used on rough roads, in the back country, and is insulated for cold weather. My new hunting/fishing camp rig.

Not my actual trailer, just stock photos I found online.

Real nice!:) How large of a hunting/fishing/camping rig are are you getting? Our old (1965 I think) 15' Shasta camp trailer is worn out, and we've been looking at some that look like those in the pictures.
Like I said though, part of our 2nd and 3rd stimulus payments will probably go towards a new .257 Weatherby. We've been saving for a new hunting trailer for a couple of years now, and having a new .257 Weatherby along when we're using it will be extra nice.;)

There are some really good ideas here. I don't think I have need for another firearm, but perhaps I should re-examine that. I will be spending some of mine on training. Some will go to 2A groups. Some on ammo if I can find ammo.

I'm torn between that or being adult and responsible. I could pay off a debt. I could put it in my IRA. I feel like this isn't the time (politically) to be a responsible adult. I feel like now is the time to make hay while the sun shines. I'm reading the other thread about guns we regretted buying, and I'm thinking about that. I'm not much for the AR/AK world, but what is going to be permanently unavailable in the near future?

One common thread I'm seeing in this discussion: no one is talking about saving the money. I think that is quite telling.

Well, a stimulus is supposed to be spent, to stimulate the economy.

But we'll put most of this new one into savings, much like the last few. We have kids and for some unGodly reason the stimulus gives them just as much so ...

I won’t get anything to buy guns or ammo with.

Not upset, just glad I’ve been fortunate enough not to get pounded financially like many others have.

I did do a good job with my tax withholding in 2020...after downing a few hours this afternoon with Turbo Tax I only owe the Feds $63.00 and the State owes me a bit of money.

Since I’m not going to be in a tax hole I think I may raise my high bid again to be sure I win my next gun auction... or the other guy pays more for it than he should ;).

Spend wisely and stay safe.

I'm giving this one to my granddaughter. It's only fair as she's going to have to pay it back. I probably should save it as I'm now fully vaccinated and going back to work and will only be making half of what I am on unemployment.

The first two payments went towards firearms-----this will be going for a fiberglass truck topper---not sure if I want to go with Leer or ARE.

I view it as them giving some of my money back that the govt thieves have stolen from me. So ol Chuckie and Nancy still haven't purchased my vote--because they will never get it.

but to celebrate our government's follies by looking forward to spending this free money on stuff (not in dire need of by the family) makes me wonder.

I agree-but I'm not giving my checks back to the government. So far, we're fortunate enough financially to be able to give our stimulus money to our daughters. My wife and I are retired and live on fixed incomes but I told her we might visit DisneyLand with the next checks.

Anyone remember the WIN (Whip Inflation Now) buttons sponsored by (I believe) President Ford's administration? Inflation is the biggest economic enemy of the middle class.

Still, regarding stuff, I've lusted for a Winchester Model 71 rifle for a very long time...

I’ll be saving mine. FPURX, FSKAX, & FTIHX.
It kinda hurts tho... PE ratio is high. But today’s highs will be amazing pricing years from now. I can’t time the market. So... in it goes.

Regarding adulting:

I prefer SnugTop to Leer, not familiar with the other. My 06 Tacoma showing off it's new shoes, ordered in May 2005 and got it September of 2005. Toytec lift and custom drive shaft and other stuff. The SnugTop was an order option and has served well. I had a Leer on my previous Toyota and it was a good top but not as strong as the SnugTop.

And this is how it begins... with the populace getting used to, and expecting, handouts from the federal government.

Had we qualified for one of these payments, I most assuredly would've turned over the money in its entirety to my favored gun rights organizations, and/or a charitable cause.

I understand that there are undoubtedly a lot of members here in financial straits due to the pandemic or other reasons, whose families can certainly use the added income, but to celebrate our government's follies by looking forward to spending this free money on stuff (not in dire need of by the family) makes me wonder.
I kind of look at it like this, the stimulus money I received was scary close to what I was penalized at the end of the year, 2 years in a row, for the great sin of not being able to afford health insurance, all the while paying out of pocket for appoinments and prescriptions, thanks BHO. I typically don't look favorably at government dole outs, but I basically feel as though I was just getting back what was mine in the first place.

The first two went about 70% paying off debt, 30% fun. I imagine this one will go the same way. My truck is the last debt we have, then saving for the kids college or tech school. I wish they hadn't given any stimulus out, the economy would be just fine if they would stop trying to destroy it with lockdowns. The lockdowns haven't totally killed the economy, so now they are trying to kill it with hyperinflation.

I've been very happy with my Leer. 8 years and 90k miles. Only minor issues. Paint looks as good as the day I bought it.

That was a larger decision, part of being able to sell through Brownell's Europe.
Also, so many AR buyers want their super-duper special louper muzzle device, it was simpler to just get the threaded 16" barrels, and put an A2 FH on it as "stock."
There was some thought given to keeping the shorter handguard, but the 'look' was retained as the change in length was less than 2oz in weight overall, and then balance point stayed put.

Oh a cop out to fit the Euro market eh? Makes sense. Not a big fan of compromise designs made to fit each and every draconian nation on Earth. I’m hoping Ian and Karl decide to offer the 14.5 upper at some point in the future as it was perfect. In the meantime, I’ll have to get by with this old school lightweight carbine:
