Long Range Rifle/Scope/PRS question(s)

So you guys with purpose-built competition rigs, what do they weigh all in including a loaded magazine?
My club's newly refurbished range only goes out to 500 yards, but they have started running some PRS-like (PRS "light"?) orientation matches. I went to the first with my Defensive Edge 700 in .260 Remington. It has BDL bottom metal, so I was at a distinct disadvantage and timed out on a couple of complex stages. I've since ordered and installed a Wyatt's det mag kit to solve the problem short term. I also have a semi-custom .243 Ackley I might try at the next outing; it's just shy of 14# with bipod and loaded magazine. I bought and have been playing with a Pint-Size Sticky Game Changer bag; it's a hoot! Crazy cold this weekend, so no range time; trust it will be more seasonable for the next shoot in a couple of weeks.

Weight on mine have ranged over the years from prob 16 lb to 23 lb
early on I liked medium Palma profile barrels which are a good mid weight compromise. eventually people convinced me to move to heavy m40 type profile.
And my background was high power where everyone puts lead in their buttstock and under their forearm on their ar15. Since I was shooting a 6.5 against all the 6mm I made a mold out of the spacers in my buttstock and replaced the plastic with a 4lb solid hunk of lead which was awesome for shooting and helped level the field but not so great for carry.
when I showed it to Phil at MPA he started making weight kits for his stocks. Pretty soon everyone was shooting 24lb dashers and 6BR based wildcats.
mood has changed dramatically with all the crap in 2020 and my rifles are back to more of a fighting weight and less of a competition weight.

My rifle is right at 20 pounds with a loaded mag, my buddy Jeff's rifle is like 24/25 pounds. Mine is as heavy as needed and all my nearly 64 year old hands want to manipulate. Balance is also important.
Yea, need to have common sense real world weight stuff as well as "playing games" rifles.
When my Manners PRS 1 stock gets finished and shipped, assuming I have a barrel by then (I have everything else, been buying it a piece at a time), it will be a bit lighter than my Matrix setup. That will give me two rifles to shoot PRS with, so I'll always have a backup that I can fall back on or lend out to a friend or family member who wants to shoot a match just for kicks.

Wow, I really had no idea; so my 14 pounder is a lightweight! There was only one other bolt action at our first shoot; the other guys were shooting some form of AR platform. I saw some 5.56s, a .224 Valkyrie, a 6.5 Grendel and a 6.5 Creedmoor. There was one M1A, but he dropped out early with function problems. Even loading by hand I beat most of the lighter ARs, especially once we moved to the 500 yard line. I learned a lot!
ETA: Think I'll shoot this one next time out. Remington 700 SPS Varmint that Tumbleweeds trued and re-chambered in .243 Ackley Improved and bedded in a Grayboe Renegade. I wasn't thinking PRS when I had it built, but it should work until I decide on a dedicated rifle.

My gas guns are a little lighter, but my two bolt guns are 20 and 22 lbs, with balance targeted 4-5” in front of the magwell which puts it just a little forward heavy when sitting on a barricade bag.
Very nice setup, it should do well.
My Pint Sized and Schmedium Game Changers are what I mostly use. I could get by with nothing but a waxed canvas pint sized, but the Schmedium is real nice off rocks etc where the larger area side surface comes in handy.
Added a Bergara B14 .22 LR Trainer to the fold, mounted a Nightforce 20MOA rail & a Bushnell 3.5-21X50 scope after work today. Picked up the scope on sale a few months back. I used the Seekins low 34MM rings I replaced with a higher mount on my Impact. If it is too low to suit me I'll get something else. LOP is 14.5" with all the spacers, I'll shorten that. Will shoot it tomorrow.
Should be fun and a cheap way to practice getting stable on various barricades etc, plus the kids should love it as well.

Sweet! I shot a Bergara recently and really liked it. It's about midway between a CZ/Tikka and a Vudoo. Great value.
I took out one spacer and sighted it in (roughly) today after work. Trigger is decent, stock feels good, will eventually replace it (Trigger, not stock), even though they say removing it (trigger) voids the warranty.
Overall first impression is I like it and am glad I bought it.

I just re-read the first five pages of this thread, sure seems like a long time ago, and I have learned so much since then.
So much great advise here. The biggest point was just do it, get a rifle of some kind, sign up for a match and go. Boy was I green my first time out. Proved a couple of things, I could shoot a rifle well enough, but I had a lot to learn about positional shooting, and I had to get faster.
But bottom line is “Just do it”.

Why limit the choices to those two?
I have seen a couple issues with the Mark 5HD, including dialing inaccuracies.
Leupold doesn't even make the top 5 on this list.

I am not entering competitions.
I get military discount on scopes and the Leupold only set me back 1600
I could sell both Leupolds and get something "better"
If I did that I would go with S&B
my optic budget is a bit tapped right now since I ordered a thermal optic.

I just sent an inquiry. If so, I may sell the Leupolds and go with SB
NF > Vortex > S&B > Leupold
there are a lot of good deals on used vortex gen2 4-27x out there right now. you could prob pick one up for $1500 or even less
between the two you chose, I'd pick FFP any day over SFP with the sole exception being police snipers that limit engagements to like <100 yards
