I'm seeing a lot of Anti media using this site. WaPo, NYT, Time, etc.

It may be that the FBI UCR homicide data isn't released yet in detail for 2020. The quarterly report is https://crime-data-explorer.app.cloud.gov/explorer/national/united-states/prelim-quarterHere's the CDE Explorer UCR https://crime-data-explorer.app.cloud.gov/explorer/national/united-states/shr

2019 data on murder victims by weapon still shows that all rifles of all types are used significantly less often in homicides than people are beaten to death with hands/feet or bludgeons or hacked and stabbed.

I don't trust organizations whose "about" pages are so opaque. No names, no location, just a general inquiry email.

"It is hoped that this information will inform and assist those engaged in discussions and activities concerning gun violence, including analysis of proposed regulations or legislation relating to gun safety usage."
Sure. ;)

They have an address in Washington, D.C. and an email address. They also have a Facebook page. They are a "Non Profit" legal group which means that they have to file that information and it's public. But they do not name any of their officers or responsible persons or who funds the organization on their website. Which legit organizations do. So that is questionable.

I don't know why they choose not to list the owner - but - they don't try too hard to keep it a secret either.

It has the rundown on this website.
The site has value and it tries to be honest. It is also limited as the article explains. Each of the major websites, the CDC and the FBI, that track shootings and other deaths have limitations. There is no major government cite that maintains accurate and factual records of shootings etc. Each has limitations on how they gather the information. This has been the case for a long time. The FBI and the CDC have accurate information for as far as it goes. They both rely on the information as reported to them and that is not always complete or through.

I don't know that a website like this has to report the owner, but they should post the people in charge and the key players in the staff, same as a newspaper lists the editor, and a company the CEO, etc.
