About the same distance for me, 20 miles. 50 yrd. pistol/.22 rifle range, 200 yard rifle range, two traphouses, and archery; indoors, static outside 'practice' range with 10-50 yard butts, and a walkabout range winding through the grounds. It can be a bit unnerving in part of it as it goes right behind the shotfall areas for the traps, but far enough so you won't get pelted.
As with FL-NC's range, no RSO's, private, all members are vetted, and entry/exit is recorded by your RFID gate key.

Gun club is a 3 miles away, features rifle, pistol, archery, shotgun, indoor range, lake, camping and more.











90 miles away is our farm shooting range, reactive targets, trap, 50-100-200 and out to 500 yd rifle range.

Usual range is two hours away, 20$ per gun all day if you want, with 20 spots and targets at 50, 100 and 200 yards ; used to be half an hour, but I moved. Same rules as mentioned by OP.
Heard of a possible location 40 minutes from home, but it would require membership for trap shooting on Sunday morning only and include access to only one shooting table to a 100 yards range. I have to inquire about this. Both have been closed for pandemic reason.
Beautiful clays range with trap, skeet, five stand and sporting 20 minutes from home, 2 minutes from my girlfriend's place. No rifles or handguns allowed there, 24" barrel minimum requirement, be nice and we'll behaved there. Costly, but classy place. Thinking about renewing my membership there, but really, I am much more of a rifle shooter than anything. Have to shoot something anyway!

My closest public range closed down last week. The next nearest range is half hour away and they have similar rules about what you can and cannot shoot. Next closest range after that is an outdoor range on state late that is an hour away. Less rules and free to shoot at.

The craw of this is there is a private gun club within walking distance of me. Their membership has been closed to new applicants for at least 5 years.

The indoor pistol range where I have my membership is about a 15 minute drive almost stright north of my house (green dot). There is another indoor range with similar facilities located is a little further from me in both time and distance; the nearest outdoor facility is about a 45 minute drive northeast of town.



In addition to three rifle bays, FRPC has a cowboy range, a shotgun bay and a practical range.



There is a separately-operated silhouette range adjacent to the FRPC's facilities, on the opposite side of the hill.

Just under an hour from home (assuming light traffic and no fog) there is a really nice facility called the Sun Mountain Gun Club where I recently did my CCW quals.

I hoping I can strike up a friendship with a friend's brother, who just bought a house with a large rural acreage about 1.5 hours from me. Word is that it's an ideal spot for shooting day -- it's one of those places you could shoot safely from the porch if you like.

20 minutes to one outdoor range; 40 minutes the opposite direction to a new County-owned place across state lines. Sporting clays is 1 hour 40 minutes for the closest and 2.5 hours each way for two others.

50 mile round trip to my gun club range which only goes to 185 yards now after two dummies and an old grouch's reaction got the 300 and 400 yard back stops removed. Common sense rules which some ignore like always happens. 75 mile round trip to BLM land where there you encounter very few people and can safely shoot long range if you wish.. Most are oilies going about their work and where I go the oilfield isn't very active anymore. On week ends you may not see another living soul.

2 minutes drive to a private outdoor range that includes rifle out to 500 yards, pistol pits, individual 100/50/25 yard ranges, steel reactive targets.

20 minutes drive to BLM where the sky's the limit.

30 minute drive to indoor range that includes a 100 yard indoor rifle range.

No problems shooting "tannerite" or some 'shooters' that get the trigger back stuck easily:

Three miles. Costs $30 per year. Rules are pretty much common sense.

Rifle up to 200 yards, pistol including gongs and shotgun with both trap and skeet.

No explosive targets allowed.

I walk about 400 yards, to my shooting range. I'm willing to bet you can guess the rest. Just keep saving your money, it's an attainable goal.

I can shoot .22's and handguns in my side yard, though I do less and less of handguns it because my backstop of logs rotted or got burnt up during the last few winters.

My local range is 1 mile as the crow flies, or a 5 minute drive. I like it, there's 10 different outdoor ranges to go to at the club, so if you're shooting handgun you can pretty much always find a bay or pit for yourself. The rifle ranges are bench or prone only and at set distances, and typically you'll be sharing the range with 1-10 other people. Just 2 complaints, my buddy is a member at a range 50 minutes away where you can shoot pistols or rifles in the pits, so you have 50 yards to yourself to set up targets at any distance and move around while doing drills. Our pits are only 20 yards deep, and it's handgun or PCC only in them. And my buddy's range has a trap area too, there's no shotguns at my range except in one of the bays were you're limited to 17 yards and paper targets.

It works out though, my range has steel targets for rifle and handgun and we can go out to 600 yards while his longest is 200 yards and there's not nearly as many slots available to use. So we try to plan trips together if one of us wants to use what's at the other's range.

I have a handgun range on the property. Also a land share owner in a range association, approxmently one hour drive to get there. I am also a Life member of Millvale Sportsmen Club but its a drive to get there thru VA-West VA into PA.

About 50 miles/1 hour's drive. Was a nice range, with a number of long range bays and no prohibitions on rifle FMJ (sadly very rare in DFW).
Equally sadly, the Trust that they were leasing land from has decided to no longer allow them use of the access road, which has permanently closed the range.
So, back to searching for an FMJ friendly range.

I'm very fortunate. My range is only 15 minutes from the house!

Left southern NV shortly after the first of the year, and moved to MO. about 60 miles south of Kansas City in a rural area, even though I had walking distance to my range on BLM land and shooting as far as the eye could see. Now once my back get's healed, plan on doing a lot of shooting here in woods of MO. with just a short trip of 5-10 minutes at the most to do my shooting in a shaded tree with my portable bench and array of steel targets..

It is 2.8 miles, and I often walk to it. The next nearest is 16 miles. Both are indoor only. Not many options for an outdoor range near me unless you want to join a shooting club, which I do not.

I am one of the lucky ones. I live on the ridge bordering the west side of my mom's ancestral farm, so I only have to step out of the house.

But a lot of grass to mow! I was thinking of buying a land as private range but every time I think of mowing the grass, I gave up. How do you guys manage the grass? I know you have deer.

The outdoor range that's closest to me also has their versions of rules #2 and #3. Rule #1 is absolutely absurd and demands a little civil disobedience, IMHO.

I patronize two indoor ranges and three outdoor ranges depending on what I want to do, how much time I can spare, what the weather's like, etc etc etc. The nearest range is one of the indoor ranges at about five miles and the farthest range is one of the outdoor ranges (one of the two without the silly rules) at about 15 miles. The range with the silly rules is the one I usually use for new scope sight-ins as it's best set up for doing that rapidly and conveniently and I'm not going to be doing any rapid fire or using profile targets anyway in that case.

The outdoor ranges around here are pretty basic and I sure wish we had one like some of those shown in posts above. You guys have something to be real proud of.

Not sure about others, we let the cattle mow it.

Rembrandt---shot there from early 80s until I moved away in '97--- was a member then and shot there many, many times---me and two friends ran plate shooting matches
there from early 80s until I moved away--- lots of GOOD memories. Also a member of the Boone, Iowa Sportsmen Club---another good place to shoot (IPSC) back then.
