Biden to nominate horrible choice to be ATF director

The last and only Senate confirmed head of agency was in 2013 (Jones, stepped down in 2015). All agency heads since have been Acting. So he too may sit as Acting Head of Agency for years before a confirmation hearing. Then, the only Dems vulnerable to a possible "no" vote are Manchin and Tester.

He will fit right in with the rest of that pack of fools.

Oh my G-D I would never have suspected Biden would nominate an ANTI-GUN person to head the BATF!!!!!!

Shocked I am I don't believe they are fools. I believe they know exactly what they want to accomplish, and how they intend to go about it....

I guess my question is what has Biden done thats not a horrible choice?

He’s not the problem, Biden and those pulling his strings are the problem. When was the last time we had a ATF director in our corner. Keep your eye on the ball. We need to work overtime on the 2022 election.

You could have ended the title of this thread after “choice”...

So in an effort to find a silver lining here maybe the ATF will over extend on some of their efforts. That could lead to some lawsuits before the courts. I keep getting told the courts are on our side now, I guess we could find out how true that is while we wait for the next election.

Hard to make a case that he'd be worse than the last one. But I expect he won't be confirmed; we don't seem to confirm dept heads anymore in the US.

Totally on both counts.
It's gotten to the point where states need to enact their own gun regs like many are doing with marijuana.

Let’s hope this guy is all about enforcing existing laws... like when a dishonorably discharged cokehead lies on a 4473 form about substance abuse to obtain a gun (he then loses).

Already happening. Texas and Arizona and other states are enacting laws making them Second Amendment sanctuary states.

Choices made based on whatever is bad for gun owners or apparently the USA likely incessant.

I would lay odds that this will not survive the Senate confirmation process.

Funny, the Feds don't go after states violating Federal drug laws with the condoning of marijuana sales, but do go after people legally exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.

I guess they look to the future, stoned out potheads are easier to control than gun owners.

Sadly I think that has a lot to do with it.

For what it’s worth my blue home state has a constitution that mirrors the US complete with a 2nd.

So does mine, but that means nothing. Plus our state supreme court appears to rubber stamp all infringements as "OK".

As to legal weed, Karl Marx stated "religion was the opiate of the masses", now it'll be weed, alcohol and whatever else is legalized as ok.

I read he had nominated Chipman and my stomach lurched. A chief advisor of an anti-gun organization running the ATF.. that's just.. lovely.
