Bought my 6" stainless-used-in 1976, a set of Bullseye springs to lighten a too heavy trigger pull, Pachmayr grips. Mine has always been very accurate.

I agree on the too expensive aspect of Ruger SS revolvers. 10 years ago, I bought 2 of them (that were perfect) in stainless for $375 and $425. No way I can get them at that price now.
Go back 20 years ago I was paying the same for S&W revolvers. I gave $425 for a used S&W 25-5 back in 1999/2000ish. I blame Bass Pro and Cabela's fine gun rooms for jacking up the prices on S&W revolvers. Overnight they went from a $400-$500 gun to a $1000+ gun.

I'm glad I bought the guns I wanted before revolver prices got so high. I'll spend my money on overpriced reloading components instead. lol

Service and Security sixes are listing at nearly $1000 here. GPS are at $8-900. Not much of a ruger guy so I don't give it too much merit.

I feel your pain. I had to start selling in May 2019 to pay medical bills. I still have more than I should but the market isn’t cooperating. People want plastic guns not wood and steel.
What kind of grips are those?
And, a 2 3/4” Speed Six in .357. When they were new, I, along with others, thought they were “almost” as good as a comparable Smith & Wesson.
I, and others, were mistaken. They are every bit the equivalent of S&W and, perhaps, in some ways superior.

I have several Security-Sixes, but wish I'd bought a few Service-Six 4-inchers. They are beautiful pistols and great for hiking, camping and fishing. Six shots and no extra steel. Very mean, lean fighting machines. I can believe people aren't selling them, and those who are are asking a lot for them. One seller on GunBroker was selling a Security-Six that looked like it had gone through both world wars. It had rust stains all over it, the bluing was 80 percent...gone and it looked like it had been used as a hammer. I did a double take at the starting price and don't know what it finally sold for, if indeed it sold at all. Let's just say it was an...optimistic figure.

Since this thread is still going, I picked up a 2.5" SS Security 6 about this time last year in a trade. My first on duty gun was a 4" SS 6 back in the 70s so I have some sentimental feelings for them. This one was highly polished, both inside and out. I wished it had a 4" bbl but beggers can't be choosers.
I even found some old Pachmayr grips for it and an old Bianchi holster. Pairs up nicely with my Timberwolf 357 mag pump gun.

Nice grips, I sold mine about 20 years ago due to the small, uncomfortable grips.

If you take a black Sharpie or black magic marker, you can restore the rear sight to its pristine condition. S&W has great adjustable sights on its guns, and though Ruger has adequate rear sights, its sights just aren't as good as S&W. Still, black magic markers can restore Ruger's rear sights to like new condition.

I think most shooters who have experienced the Security or Service Six think highly of those guns, me included. I acquired a new 6" Security Six soon after they were released in stainless, early/mid '70s? Later a 4" stainless. Within the last year, I acquired a Ruger GP100 MC in 10MM. Bigger gun than the Security Sixes, much like comparing the S&W 66 to the 686. The full lug 686 is a favorite of mine, but still glad the MC just has the half lug. The GP100 is certainly not as svelte as the Security Sixes I had, but still enjoy it ..

I had the SS Security Six in 4" and paid 350.00 brand new in Arizona about 1981, Later acquired a 6" and eventually traded both in my youthful gun fever years.
About 10 years ago I was waiting for a haircut in Cedar Hill TX and drifted next door to a pawn shop, under glass lay a 2 1/2" SS Sec6 for 250.00.
I thought the gun is as new, no dings or scratches if there' some sort of issue ( low price ?) surely I can fix it. Well, that thing has a butter smooth double action that I can actually stage with my trigger finger. Full house rounds are a handful. But, the gun is heavy enough to compensate. Handled a GP100, I'll take a Sec6 anyday.

GREAT GUN!
When I was a young man I turned my nose up when the Security Six came out. My friends were so proud of theirs, but in my limited macho mind they were just not a Python or Model 29.
Fast forward 40 + years and with me now having nerve damage in my hands and arthritis in my digits and wrists. I now appreciate this soft shooter and realize that it is actually a good looking handgun.
