What ammo are you finding and for how much?

Was able to pick up 1000 rounds of CCI Minimag today. .22LR is pretty scarce in my part of Kentucky. the same shop wanted a dollar a round for .380 and zero .38 Special and .357 mag. Not even any .22 magnum to be found. Plenty of centerfire rifle ammo though. No buckshot in anything but 12 gauge.
Yeah from what I have seen, .38spl is very, very scarce compared to others. I haven't seen any .38spl in this past year except for very recently a few boxes appeared. Same for .40S&W.

I don't have a .22mag but my uncle has a couple so I'm always looking for him and I never see that either. Basically everything else pops up somewhat regularly but is expensive and sells out fast. If you're lucky there are those few and far between times you find a good amount for a good price. Those times will get me by and hopefully by the time I need to buy 9mm again it won't be $35/50.

One interesting thing is that basically about a year ago to the date, popular hunting ammo has been non existent, around here anyway. Some calibers are starting to come back little by little. My LGS has had a stack of .270win and a couple others for a couple weeks now at normal prices so that's nice

I figure a few people that have "hunting" calibers stocked up with a few extra boxes in case their rifles were needed for purposes other than harvesting backstraps.

I found my ammo today on my front porch, & it cost me a pre- shortage price. Last March I ordered a scope from Optics Planet, and 10 100 round plstic boxes of Winchester hyper vel .22rl. Well, the OP folks could only send me 8 boxes, & put 2 on back order. Over the past 12 months, they sent me updates, that i quit playing attention to. well I've got enough of the ammo now to seriously give it a try ina couple of my .22s.

Went back to my LGS today, was looking for some buckshot and found he had cases of #6 12ga target loads. 100rd/$35. So I got some. He had a new batch of .38spl Federal FMJ 130gr $30/50. So I grabbed another box since it's been ages since I've been able to shoot my cobra. Last week he had .38spl in 158gr LRN for the same price so it looks like I'll be able to do some revolver practice..

He had 800rd packs of Federal 40gr .22lr for $75. I wanted to grab one but I started feeling like I was spending a lil too much and I have some .22lr to shoot up anyhow.....

93 cents a round is higher than pre-shortage prices for .22LR, but still a good deal, if only to take the pressure off guys who just wanna shoot. And there is this, getting 800 of one brand is much better than constantly having to buy 2 box limits of whatever is available. You know, 40 grain target, then 32 grain high velocity, always re-siting your rifle.

$.93/rd for .22lr? $75 for an 800rd brick is closer to 10 cents/rd. Unless I misunderstood the meaning of your post. $1/rd for .22lr is just something that I would never do though, I know there are people getting it, but not from me.

ETA: quick check with a calculator and I'm assuming you meant to type 9.3cents not .93cents
Sorry, didn't catch that at first...

I stand corrected! I tried to figure it my head. Makes it a good deal.

Prices at the lgs I frequent have been pre-panic, when its available. I've been able to pick up Blazer and Fed 9mm here and there, and yesterday I picked a box of Fed 38sp, first 38sp I've seen in 6 months. 22lr has been somewhat regularly available here, but no bulk boxes, mostly 50rd Blazer and Norma. 45acp blazer is sparce, but a few boxes turn up every couple weeks. 7.62x.39 wolf has been steadily available. .223/556 is scarce and only 20rd boxes when it is there. Haven't seen 40sw, 30-30, 30-06, 300wm, or 308 in several months.

The Wal-Mart I frequent has only had one Scoped Savage bolt action in the glass case and maybe 1 box of 300 Win mag in stock.

My stepdaughters boyfriend was taking his CCW class yesterday and was told they would not be shooting because of ammunition availability. Local sporting goods stores are offering to buy your ammunition. My son just bought 2 boxes of .270 for 18 per at a local Walmart here in Northern Michigan. The last 2 they had.

Thats for brass cased, so not a bad price for 7.62x39 and there was a pallet sitting out. 9mm has come down a little at the same LGS, they had a sale a few weeks ago and had some 1k rounds@$625. Way cheaper than the almost .90 around it was before. But they probably had 500-600k or more of 9mm in various brands. They are still way over priced on .22lr, 525rd Golden Bullets for $130. They were way over priced on other ammo and kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They had Herters and PPU boxes of .30-30 ammo for $60 a box and hardly anyone was buying the stacks they had. Weeks later on there sale the Herters drops to $20 a box.

Walmart, .410 #9, $18.50 a box, was allowed three boxes. Had a little .410 stocked up but just got a new .410 shotgun and wanted extra to play. I don't consider the price bad because .410 is always expensive. Maybe after the insanity calms down I'll get a reloader for it.

Local gun show 223 is going for 1.5 and up a round. I don't buy at these prices. I did pick up 4 boxes of 2.5 inch 7.5 shot 410 bore 25 round boxes at wally world for 7 bucks a box. Comes out to about 33 cents a shell. They had some 12 ga but it was being bough up fast.

Here is what I am seeing. It appears that most of the companies (Remington was shut down for 9 months) have caught up after being shut down for four months. Most are filling March contracts and should have April completed by the end of April. If they keep producing at the rate they are now then there will be more excess over the next few months. By late summer we should start to see hard to get rounds like .38 SPC or .30-30 or .380 ammo. However it may be late into next year before everything is back. Prices may stay high.

I have found a lot of 22lr at walmart lately. I was in to pick up some things and I always check the ammo dept. They had about 80 boxes of CCI 22lr quiet or sub sonic 22s. 3.95 a box. 8 cents a round. My wife was with me so I bought 6 boxes.

I went to the Nation's Gun Show in Chantilly VA on Friday, April 23, the first of these gun shows held in months. It had 500 tables (down from pre-COVID of 1000+) and tickets were sold in 2-hour lots. I had low expectations, but was modestly pleased. LOTS of ammo. Not exactly pallets, but PLENTY of 9mm and 223/5.56, and plenty of less common ammo. I'd say about 25% were charging max-panic prices, like a dollar per bullet for 9mm and 5.56. Yeah, get the memo. Lots of lookers and no buyers. About half were selling more like 75 cents per round of 9mm and 80 to 85 cents for 223/5.56 (like "good" ammoseek prices). Two vendors had decent, non-insulting, better than ammoseek prices...and with no tax or shipping. That's more like it. I picked up some PMC 223 for $14/20 rounds (70 cents per round), the next cheapest I saw was $17/20. My brother snagged 4 boxes of Federal 9mm for $30 each (60 cents per round). That, to me, is a relatively reasonable price (these days). So, for us to move past this current, prolonged ammo crises, we need first, availability, and second reasonable pricing because ammo is plentiful and inventory piles up, forcing lowering prices. I'd say availability is undoubtedly better, and prices are creeping down, with Remington fully online, I expect availability and pricing will continue to drop. But will they drop sharply, or gradually over the span of many months. Unfortunately, I'd say it will be the latter.

LGS .223 Tula for 10.00 box of 20.

Same shop ball 9MM Geco 20.00 per box of 50 rd's.

He sells at a profit, but not willing to rape his customers.
