How many guns have you given as gifts?

My SIL's husband was admiring my collection of handguns and rifles and said something to the effect of "man, well one day I'll have to convince the wife, she is too anti gun right now but eventually I'll get one". So me being me I handed him a .38 revolver, the one he said he liked. It was a done deal. I don't think she thought very highly of me for that, but she has since warmed up to me a lil bit I think and she is at the point where she is glad that he has a gun and isn't so anti as she once was. She may have even shot it, I can't remember.

Hmmm. I can think of five, all to family members. I hope to give some to grand kids when they are old enough.

I loaned my SIL a Savage 10 243 to deer hunt and he has had it for 7 or 8 years. I bought another 243 so I don't need the Savage. I also "GAVE" him a Winchester Super X 12 ga. My girls will get my guns when I'm gone. They both like to shoot but live in locations where it is hard to find a place. They sure burn some shells when they come to visit though.

5, including the single six to my momma. The others to friends. I've also been given 3 that I can recall.

I gave my twin brother a glock 43 for Christmas. I had it custom painted with the stars and stripes, thin blue line, and his police badge number.

Put it in a new pelican vault case.

He opened it, said nice case and put it aside to open other presents. Then he asked me why I gave him a pistol case when he didn't own a pistol (dumb I know). I said he was a moron and to open the case.

He sobbed like a 10 year old girl.

I got a hoodie.

Seven.

And I've been thinking I should increase that number before these universal background checks get passed.

Tell me he’s not a detective.

I've given a number of them away, mostly to my brother. I've gotten a few in return as well, mostly from my brother. My brother has also given me 2 cars and a motorcycle... probably trying to make up for being such a bunghole when I was younger and we were growing up.

A bunch. I started about a half dozen years ago. I give them away to those that need and those that don’t need. Those that don’t need gift some different ones back to me.

I wish sometimes I lived where I could find homeless people. I’d give them guns, too, after I asked them a few questions first.

Right now I’m all out of guns. :)

Since that terrible boating accident I discovered that there were a few that didn't go overboard.
A couple of 1911's and a Ruger MKII to off springs and their spouses! (So far!)

Smiles,

Your brother is a police officer and doesn't own a handgun? Is that a thing?

Maybe you do need coffee, I don't know how if I had a son, who was married to a guy, would......nevermind. I'm confused.
SIL can also be Son-in-Law. Or Captcurt has a sister-in-law that’s a guy...

I’m not going to delete my question. But man, I deserve the “you’re an idiot” emoji. I think I will refrain from the reloading room today.
My brain isn't firing on all cylinders today either. It only just occurred to me that SIL could also be son in law... now I see how you got there......

GD acronyms are WOR (way over rated)

So....your brother? Or is your son married to a guy? Do I need coffee? I’m so confused.
My wife had a sister named Linda. That made Linda my SIL (Sister-In-Law), and she was married to a guy named Tom. When Tom lost his eyesight due to macular degeneration, he gave me his guns - including the Browning "Light 12" I still use. In other words, I'm still using one of the guns my SIL's husband gave me, and I don't even have any brothers.:)

Some years ago, I gave away an Enfield mklll and a Arisaka Last Ditch to a young guy who was just getting started collecting milsurps. He used them for seed money to help focus on, finance, and start a now great collection of pre WWl Mausers. The payback was when he sent over a Springfield Mkl stock for a Mkl that I recently bought.

Oof. Not many I think. The Mrs and I tend to share firearms regardless of who financially bought it (I fill out the 4473 but she uses it more, vice versa) with few exceptions. But I can't recall if I have ever given a gun as a gift without some money involved. To be fair I have only received one firearm as a gift, my (very liberal) brother gave me his 10/22 out of the blue for no reason. I am going to hold onto that one for quite awhile as I remember the times we had shooting it growing up before we went our separate ways.
