Want to make a bunch of unaware gun owners felons? Run this ad on FB. Oh, that's just what they did.

It's just like all the other conversion kit things (like Fab Defense) that convert a pistol to a carbine. If they don't have another longer barrel it's an SBR & requires a tax stamp. Some get around this by making it a brace but it looks like this wasn't done in these cases.
Buyer Beware!

"NFA RULES are the federal laws which regulates the sale and possession of certain weapons including: Machine Guns, Suppressors, Short Barreled Rifles, Short Barreled Shotguns, Destructive Devices and AOW.

Addition of the VIPER STOCK set to a Glock type Pistol results in the manufacture of a short-barreled rifle (SBR) which falls within the classification of firearms subject to NFA controls.

If you actually possess a pistol and the VIPER STOCK device, even if the pistol is not assembled into the VIPER STOCK device, the combination would constitute a short barrel rifle (SBR) which may not be lawfully possessed unless it is registered per NFA Laws.

Check your State and Local Laws for any addition restrictions."

That is a neat folding setup. And if a Glock was a straight action as opposed to a tilting action it would be great... if sold with a 16” barrel and clear instructions to use the whole kit or none of it. But nope, tilting action, short barrel, seeming entrapment... nah. The tilting barrel part is a big deal because of all the forces on the frame with the long barrel and leverage given to the forces under normal barrel motion. Amp that up by a factor or 4 and things are going to break.

There is nothing in the upper part of the ad's pages that indicate you'd be making an NFA weapon on the site. I got all the way to hitting "Order" before I stopped. There's lots of references to making your Glock an SBR in the comments, but what new gun owner is going to see that before ordering? You have to scroll down to see them. A lot of people will hit "order" and gleefully wait for this cool new toy. I just wonder if the USPS driver is going to be followed by a cop to arrest you as soon as you snap the pieces together.

Pfffftttttt.
Every day of the week gun.deals runs ads for stripped/complete AR lowers with and without a shoulder stock AND ON THE SAME PAGE..........7.5" complete AR barreled uppers.:what:
Pretty easy to assemble an SBR and no warning about NFA or tax stamps.

You don't see cops chasing down all those orders do you? No, you don't.

Ever see one of these at Cabelas, Bass Pro, Academy or on the internet?

Slap one onto the rail of your Glock, Sig, Beretta, etc and you've made an NFA firearm. You don't see warning labels on the box or the internet about that either.

Bottom line is not everyone takes the time to educate themselves on gun laws. Considering the possible lifetime loss of your gun rights it seems like a good idea to read up. But heck, no one bothers to read the instructions on the Form 4473 either.
Just today, in the last hour and a half:
Five transfers, five 4473's seven total errors:
Three didn't check Hispanic or Not Hispanic.
One put "USA" for county of residence.
One left off "Jr" after his last name, forgot to check H/NotH and then checked every box on page two and signed the top of page three. :cuss:

Typical Monday.

Valid points.

I do wonder why we have 18a and 18b.
One would think the 18a Hispanic or Latino would be in 18b. just making question 18.

Hmmm, or you could just practice and learn to handle and shoot your carry pistol effectively. If I want to carry a shoulder fired firearm it sure as hell won't be a glock. Perfect example of a solution looking for a problem.

Required by Federal law. It's not ATF, but OMB. All federal forms that ask for a persons information including census.

First, Hispanic isn't a race. It's an ethnicity. You can be black and Hispanic, white and Hispanic, etc.
Prior to 2016 it was all one Question 10 "Race & Ethnicity"........which led almost all Hispanics to not choose a race.

My biggest problem with Que 18a & 18b is people not reading the darn instructions printed right there in front of them "Both 18a and 18b must be answered"
How the feds define race and ethnicity: https://www.census.gov/topics/population/race/about.html

Thanks for saying it clearly. I couldn't agree with you more. I wanted to say it but the overwhelming hand wringing here caused me pause. If you're a new gun owner its up to you to learn the law. Kinda like when you got your learners permit and started to drive....Nothing new.

My car has a gas pedal that allows me to exceed the speed limit!

I deleted my rant. Suffice it to say that a car doesn’t have warning to not run people down, and that cars and the auto industry are not blamed when somebody does do something dumb. Learning how to do something doesn’t necessarily mean your doing it right. Anybody can put a biscuit in the oven but if you don’t know the time and temp then your doing it wrong even though you know how to put the biscuit in and turn the oven on. Same for all things in life, do some basic research on what your doing and do it right from the start.

Seems like the more warnings we get the less we pay attention to them. California's Prop 65 warnings are a good example.

Because you can be almost anything from 18B and still be either/or on 18A.
I understand that, I was more curious as to why they want it.
We don't have any other Ethnicity to chose from either Hispanic or not, no Russian, Canadian etc.
Not a big deal, they want it so you have to make a selection in each box.
For you FFL guys what would 18b be if you were say an Indian(from India).?

Don't even have to snap the pieces together. The fact you had them and from the order clearly had the intent to build the device is all an Assistant U.S. Attorney would need.

Bye. Bye.

Why does ATF Form 4473 ask for race and ethnicity?
The purpose for requiring prospective purchasers of firearms to identify their racial and ethnic background is to aid law enforcement in accurately tracing firearms found in crimes and better enable Federal firearms licensees to identify the purchaser during the background check portion of a firearms transaction. To collect this identifying information, ATF was required to follow the race and ethnicity standards and format for administrative forms and records established by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). These standards were first published by OMB in the Federal Register on October 30, 1997, and became effective on January 1, 2003.

Asian.

Q8. I Answered Item 10.a on the ATF Form 4473. Do I have to answer 10.b. as well? A8. Yes. You must select at least one race in item 10.b. regardless of ethnicity designation selected in item 10.a. Both items must be answered. Ethnicity and race are further defined below:
Ethnicity – This refers to a person’s heritage. Persons of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin, regardless of race, are considered Hispanic or Latino. Any other ethnicity that does not fall within those indicated, please select the closest representation.

Race – More than one response may be selected.
o American Indian or Alaska Native - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America), and who maintains a tribal affiliation or community attachment.

o Asian - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam.

o Black or African American - A person having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa.

o Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa, or other Pacific Islands.

o White - A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa.

I mean, and this may be just me, but it says "stock". I don't need a warning telling me that I need an NFA stamp in order to assemble. Maybe I'm old school, but I say remove the warning labels from stuff and let nature sort itself.
