Funds will not be available for the GP100 that I want. I did a search on EAA revolvers and found very little. Supposedly German made, solid and inexpensive. Anybody have experience with these revolvers? I'm eyeing a 357 Magnum with a 4" barrel.

I had an EAA "Windicator" last year, traded it in because the grip didn't fit me well and nobody makes replacement grips to fit that model. It's a heavy revolver, it seemed solid and shot well, just the trigger pull was very heavy. would have preferred a replaceable front sight as well.

There really isn’t much info out there on them. The reviews I have seen aren’t spectacularly detailed and are not normally either very positive or very negative. I want a target type revolver and I want to do it in a different format than the 686, GP100, DW15 guns. I keep looking at Charter and EAA but I just don’t see much out there that makes me want to jump OR run. There was a Windicator 4” that sold on Gunbroker recently for a very affordable price. I missed it by about $20 but it was a bit rough and it sold for around $150. I think it was sold through Kings.

I've had a few of the eaa windicators in .357 magnum. They are fine and will handle heavy loads being ran through them. I only had the 4" models. They have a steel frame , steel barrel and a aluminum barrel shroud. The nickle versions are nice and the blued versions are so so. The shroud and frame will age a different blue after a while.

I've never had a issue with timing or lockup on the ones I have. Your pretty much stuck with the grips that come with the gun. They are heavy and it's super fun to run 38s out of them. If you can find one cheap....go for it.

Have you looked into Alfa Proj revolvers? I've been tempted by those a few times, and I think they'd be far more suitable for target shooting than the Windicator thing (which seems more like a glovebox gun than a target gun).

I have heard about them, have read plenty reviews but have never actually seen one.

im always tempted to buy the eaa and the alfa proj, but I always decide against it when I consider completing the purchase.

That’s where I find myself too. I don’t know if I can actually pull the trigger (purchase) on a cheap gun that only has a few good reviews. I’ve bought cheap auto loaders that bit me so I only buy quality guns like Glocks now. My wife has a couple Ruger revolvers that have been great so I might just wait. Or try to find a used Ruger locally. Thanks to all for the input!

I've had three Taurus Model 66 variants from the mid 80's through 1990. All three have been excellent.

I had a full-sized Rossi from the early 90's that was also pretty good.

I like my Charter Arms revolvers, but the ones I have would be pretty light for shooting "real" 357 ammo.

If a 38 special would scratch the itch, there are still police trade-in Model 10's out there for not much money, and those are top-quality revolvers.

I've never shot a Windicator, though.

I got this old Taurus Model 66 a couple of years ago. It's from 1982-3, IIRC. It has a S&W style firing pin block rather than the transfer bar they used afterwards. Only my best S&W revolvers have a better trigger. My friend at the LGS was very impressed when he handled the transfer for me.

3 years ago I bought an eaa Windicator and I immediately fell in love with it. It was then and is now one of my favorite guns to shoot. I recently took it apart and stoned and polished the internals and I now have a very consistent 3 1/2# single action trigger and a very smooth light double action trigger. The Windicator is also very accurate and easy to control even with 357magnum. I can carry it very well appendix with a Barsony ICW leather holster. I forget it's there. I love it.

I have a 2" barrel. I paid less than $300.00.

Windicator

The Windicator has a great grip as well. It just feels right. 6 rounds of 357magnum and only weighs empty about 25oz. I think it's in a class by itself.

Unlike other firearms, parts are easy to get through eaa website.

I don't know what your budget is, but IMO the EAA Windicator is let's say, a bit rough around the edges.

I was able to score a GP100 Match Champion very lightly used for $550 from a guy off Armslist. Beautiful revolver.

I have a bunch of Rugers in revolvers and pistols and I still say one of my favorite guns is the Windicator. It's in class by itself. It is much lighter than my GP100 . Can carry it appendix and hardly no it's there and with 6 357magnum rounds in it I feel very well protected. Yes, it's not the most refined revolver but that's not why I have it. I'm even thinking of getting another one. Keep one more for carry the other for practice .

Notice the fluorescent paint on the front and rear sights.

Yes, it's stamped made in Germany.

Thanks for the info. I’m considering an EEA but money just tightened up so maybe in a couple months I’ll revisit it.

People, people, people................ The EAA 357 Windicator is by far the best bang for your buck! It is easily a 500 dollar value. It is a german tank that can't be broken. 38s feel like 22s, and 357s feel like 38s! Trust me when I tell you that this is a no nonsense workhorse of a gun! You can beat the balls off it, and it'll ask for more. Clean, lube, and take care of this puppy, and you'll see that it's a lifetime aquisition. It's just a tuff ass wheelie! And for you Smith snobs, those airweights are garbage in your hand! Try firing a 357 out of one of those toys, and then let me know how your hand feels!

Handguns are high in this area , and revolvers go fast and at top dollar...I’d like to have another 357mag snubbie...and in the hunt .. but . No matter what .. not paying a outrageous price....
So Im patient...Im a firm believer in buying what you want .. but not over stretching your budget ...
I lend toward dependability when looking at a revolver.. and it seems the EAA is dependable ..
Taurus 617 ,65, & 66 seem to be good choices
I picked up a Charter 357mag Professional 6 shot awhile back before the World ended at a good price and it is a solid gun

Good to see the ugly duckling getting some love. Mine resides on the nightstand.

Every time I have bought a gun because the price was closer to what I wanted to pay instead of just saving up a little more and getting what I really wanted I regretted it. My advise is that if you want the GP-100 save your money and maybe the prices will drop a little. Visit some gun stores and pawn shops. Their inventory changes all the time. And you are not competing with 200 other guys for the same gun like you do on Gunbroker.

And most of all have cash in hand. Nothing will get you a better deal than flashing cash and making a reasonable counter offer. And don't be afraid to walk away from a deal. Lots of folks have less disposable cash right now because of being off work for the last year. But get what you want the first time. Yoy will forget about the price after the first range trip.

Wish I'd have seen this before I plunked the downstroke on the 357 I just ordered.....

Than again.......no

Hannibal, personally I love the way they look! Old school, and nasty! Heavy and hard, a mans snubbie!

It's my go to, short and stout. Shoots where you point it!
