Anyone own the CZ Sharptail Coach?

I’ve wanted a good double gun for having fun with and walking the property or on my tractor as a snake/coyote duster or even 2 legged threats with a 1911 as backup. I know CZ is a trusted brand and these are made in Turkey but should be good quality as most reviews are positive.

Anyone?

Oh, I agree. I think the main reason for hammer shotguns is to look right for cowboy action. Some people are saying they're safer to store loaded than hammerless guns because they have to be cocked before firing, but if that argument really held water, then people would be advocating single-action revolvers for home defense.

I like externals, but internals are just fine. I read this post earlier to see if there was an answer to the question. Anyone got one of these?

Because it makes a good topic for discussion. If you like what you purchased then that's far more important than what someone else is happy with. Yours looks like a wonderful firearm and you should get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
 
I only have experience with the O/U's, which are good guns for the money. As for hammers, I prefer them without, despite the rakish look of 'rabbit ears.'

Yes, and their hammer gun is high quality. The hammers are functional. It's considerably more expensive than its Chinese and Russian competitors.

I have a Russian-made, Remington-branded coach gun with external "hammers," but they're just cocking levers. This bothers me. The gun does have interchangeable choke tubes and a recoil pad (desirable features normally), but they're not authentic for the coach gun period.
 
Looks like I’m the ginny pig. Ordering one soon.

I emailed CZ and they assured me the gun can fire high brass without fear of doubling so that is defiantly a good thing.
 
I am a cowboy action shooter and was very interested to see the Sharptail announced a few years ago. It is similar to the (discontinued) Browning BSS and SKB 100/200, both of which are highly sought after by cowboy shooters and usually fetch $1000 or more used.

I handled one in a local gun store. Exterior finish was nice. It was somewhat stiff out of the box so would need some work to be a match gun. Only a cowboy shooter would notice.

Long Hunter Supply sells the Sharptail with action work performed.

I saw that and that is exactly who I'm going with. I emailed Jim Finch there and am on the list for his tuned coach. Said he expects some by the end of summer.

Since defensive use is in mind I figured one slicked up for cowboy was ideal. I plan to get a buttstock shell cuff and practice loading from the cuff in pairs.

Expect a detailed overview of the CZ Sharp tail Coach and an article on double barrel shotgun defense use in the next few months.
 
I purchased my Ruger New Vaqueros from Long Hunter. They do good work.

Come to a cowboy match and get a little practice loading and shooting the Sharptail. If you are really fortunate to have a local club that offers Wild Bunch matches, you will get a chance to shoot your 1911. A lot!
