Leaving Lanolin On Finished Rounds

That has nothing to do with residual lube 'on' [the outside of] the case.
(which is what I presumed was the point of the OP)

If we're into spraying, all bets are off. :cuss:

Pistol brass...1:8 Lee lube to 99% isopropyl alcohol. Spray to purposely get some inside the case (for expanding the case mouth). Do not need to remove lube.

Rifle brass...1:10 lanolin to 99% isopropyl alcohol. Spray and then use q-tips to lube about 20% of the inside of the neck before full length sizing. Skip q-tip inside neck lube if using bushing die. All lanolin lubed brass gets washed or wet tumbled with pins to remove lube.

Spray lube in gallon sized zip lock bag, dump brass in, shake around.
Lube doesn't get inside.

Who in the heck stands brass up.

I drop a hundred(ish) cases in a pan. Give them a spray with OneShot. Shake the pan. Spray them again. Let it flash off for 10 minutes. Dump into case feeder and load.
You are bound to get some inside. Besides, Ive found that getting a bit inside the case helps keep the PTX or the expander from sticking.

Why I shake the container of cases, they automatically stand open end up. Getting lube inside many of them is just as important as all on the outside.

It really does not matter if they are cleaned or not. I found with mine if I did not clean the lube off it attracted dirt and such to the extent that rounds sometimes did not chamber. A quick wipe with a rag on a finished round to remove thick lube is usually enough if it bothers. These days I use a vibratory tumbler and corn cob to finish my loadex ammo for 15-20 min to clean them up.
Yeah, after 300 rounds of lanolin coated rounds today, no issues, no extra residue on the cleaning patches. I did notice that my fingers got a bit black from the lanolin/residual powder left on the cases from the last clean, from loading mags with the finished lanolin coated rounds. Not into that, will see how the Oneshot works. For rifle with 2 cleaning cycles, lanolin only. It's natural, actually good for your skin and dirt cheap.

Nonsensical outside in 100+ heat all day post deleted. This is gonna be a long 5 month summer. :barf:

I use Oneshot on my pistol brass, and it works great for me. I don't worry if some gets on the inside of the case since it's a dry lube and won't affect powder or primer.

Just be sure to walk away for five or ten minutes after spraying it to let it flash off, then you're good to go.

I went to a LGS yesterday and got some Oneshot. It tested very well, thanks!

I used to use the Lee lube until I decided to bite the bullet and try One Shot lube. I'll never go back to being cheap cause it's so easy. Worth every penny to me and I buy the big can. I just wipe off my rifle cases after sizing. I have never had a stuck case and it does not affect my powder. Carbide dies for pistol loads no lube and no stuck cases...

Just FYI, there are two different “one shot”s. One is a cleaner/lube, the other is the case lube. Good luck.
Thanks, I noticed that on Amazon. The descriptions are wrong on most of the Oneshot lube only pages. I verified in the LGS, he had both.

I have heard of a a few guys complaining about getting stuck cases with Hornady One shot. I found it ok but prefer my own home brew 10 -1 Lanolin/heet.
Yeah I am sticking with lanolin for rifle, it is better. But I have carbide dies, and Oneshot is just good enough to cut the effort for pistol in half. I load alot of pistol rounds per month.

I do the same for rifle. I dont use straight lanolin/iso though. Im using PEG 75 lanolin which is water soluble so it cleans up better/easier in my SSTL tumbler.

I think it took me like 15000 pistols cases to burn up a single can of OneShot. Doesnt really take alot.

Update: It seems the Oneshot causes more powdet sticking to the inside of the case (Not clumping like lanolin). I found this when I weighed powder drops every 10 rounds. I'm not really worried about it, hornady says it doesn't affect powder, just a heads up. The cases were sprayed yesterday.

I remove the lube on mine. I either tumble the brass or wash the lube off with brake cleaner. I'll put several dozen cases on a folded up towel and spray them good.

I just don't want them picking up any crud that will get if my chamber.

I rather like the LEE lube. I dissolved it 1oz to 10oz isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle. A little goes a long way.
I do a half spray on a pile of pistol cases. A good spray on rifle.
