Gun sales are surging in a surprising state

I've said it before but in a state totally controlled by Democrats; general assy, governor and courts, you get it while you still can. Should it ever come to confiscation, sadly, everything you bought from a dealer can be traced.
Also, you shouldn't be surprised. Illinois isn't just Chicago. Downstate and a long the western side live some of the most conservative, outdoorsy, gun and God loving people anywhere. They know why they need to stock up now.

Well, now that the fuzz is onto the one shop in Indiana pumping “hundreds of crime guns” into Chicago, the Chicagoans have had to find a new place to buy from. Seems sensible that it’s local.

Meh, We dont need permission to by and sell our property unlike IL , Plus CHL holders waive background background checks.

One has to wonder if they joined KY in routinely running their permit holders through the system.
As a Kentuckian I get a background check once a month whether I need it or not.

I'm just happy the state isn't in charge of colonoscopies!

With nearly 50 people shot in Chicago every weekend it’s crystal clear that the nationwide D machine is hell bent on decriminalizing crime and ultimately ceding control of the city streets to the clowns who cause all the mayhem. It’s no wonder law abiding folks are taking their own security seriously.

There are great people in every State, and Illinois has far too many of them who are living under the same type of asinine rulers I do here in Ca. A few elites get into power and do all they can to throw common sense out the window and rule like communist dictators. This idiocy is their legacy.

I completely get the frustration of the law abiding in Illinois and I wish them well.

Stay safe.

Much of this surge in gun sales is based on hysteria the increased fear of civil unrest. Not surprising this is rampant in Illinois. The rest is similar to previous "Bannic" buying.

Snippet from the article -

"According to Oliva, there’s been a total of 190,838 NICS checks conducted on firearms transfers in Illinois since January, including 44,217 in the month of April. In other words, the CNN Business report is off by more than 900,000 specifically for last month, and their yearly total misses the mark by more than 4-million.

How did CNN screw up their story this badly? The news network is including all of the routine checks performed on existing Firearm Owner ID card holders as well as those who possess a valid concealed carry license, in addition to the checks performed on new applicants, instead of counting only those checks performed on gun transfers."

--------------------------

What's a routine check not associated with a gun transfer? Does that mean Illinois is regularly running checks on people that own guns even if they aren't buying or selling?

Yes

Cam Edwards criticized the CNN article as misleading here
Have to concur with this thought, given CNN's prior history:
I wouldn’t be surprised if CNN ends up just killing this story and disappearing it down the memory hole, but gun owners should keep their ignorance in mind the next time they report on anything having to do with our Second Amendment rights. The anti-gun bias of the talking heads on CNN is one thing, but the outright ignorance displayed by the CNN staff is just as bad… though arguably easier to correct if the network were to make it a priority.

Not surprised at all.
In Chicago and much of Cook county, one group of people has a history of being afraid of the state, rightly or wrongly, another group of people is afraid of that group, rightly or wrongly, a third group is afraid of the other two, so on and so forth, and there's overlap on every edge.
And much of Chicago is cautious about the rest of the state, and the rest of the state isn't enthusiastic about anything from Chicago.

the media will say anything to censor the fact that biden has sold almost as many guns as obama, in a much shorter period of time.

Illinois State Police checks the NICS database a lot. You can't equate the many lookups they do with the sale of a firearm. They are looking for NICS database updates for the citizens that hold a FOID.

See the FBI's NICS Firearm Checks report here.

I think the dumbest thing I've ever done was to listen to the guy that told me firearms had to be float tested....
I put everything I had in a boat, took it out into Indian lake, and threw them in and float tested them. Thae ALL failed

Mine will all be abducted by space aliens who will insert probes into their chambers and then dump them in space before going to lightspeed
