Custom I helped build in '92 for a friend. I did checkering and polishing. Springfield Armory base gun. That "round the world" checkering on the trigger guard was difficult but the checkering on the hammer was more difficult. Had to cut em' with a single point. The gun Ransomed just over an inch @ 50yrds, 5 shots.

Current favorite. Don Williams Custom Colt.
Those top serrations on the slide are very classy. Are the 30 LPI or 40? I have serrated the tops of several hundred 1911 slides when I worked for Les but I have never seen the tapering to a point look like your gun exhibits. Btw I share the same last name as Don. If I ever meet the guy I will compliment him on his work.

Don is great to work with. I have 3 BHPs from him and this 1911. I also own a couple Baers. A TRS and an older Concept VII. Both are excellent shooters and well built.

Don flattened & serrate top of slide at 40 lpi and added the ghost arrows. Here are pics of the process. Not my fun but the same work.

If your Baer's are more than 7 years old, I did the frame to slide fit, the checkering and any serrations on the slide, top or back. We never flattened the top of the slide before serrating and I had an old fashioned mill to work with (As in not a CNC ) I had the depths and spacing of the lines in my head. I never crashed a single one. Looking back, I don't know how I did it!

Do you ever hear the faint sounds of “Lord I Hope This Day Is Good” as you’re driving to shoot it? Or “I believe In You” when you’re about to pull the trigger?

I like the guns but I LOVE the grips. Info on them, please

Thanks. Those grips are Sambar Stag from Spresser Custom grips. They make particularly nice Sambar stag grips for a variety of firearms; especially 1911’s. I have, over the years, purchased other types of stag, but the Sambar Stag is just consistently superior in look and feel. There is just something special about stag on 1911 style pistols.

Another 1911-ish pistol dressed in Sambar stag:

A mid-1950's 38 Super with a 38 Special barrel installed. A work still in progress as I'm having trouble getting the gun to feed the last round. I might put the 38 Super barrel back in it.

Are you able to use .38 Super mags with the .38 Special wadcutters? I ask because I inherited my grandfather's old bullseye gun of very similar configuration. The one magazine I have for it is well beyond it's "best by" date.
