Will other brands work? It's just to pick up and then transfer to the tube on the press.
Now if anyone has a large and small they would like to sell...........

The Dillon tubes are significantly nicer and will work fine on your red press

I think the tube fillers are worth their weight in gold. I hate stabbing primers.

Nicer as in cheaper in all ways, yes. The first time I used them it dumped 100 primers all over the floor. The cheap plastic tips did not hold the primers back.

Now the Hornady tubes are good but the plastic insert for the primers needs to be opened up so it's easier to use. I've done that to all of mine. I have 4 tubes of each, this allows me to do 500 at a sitting without having to stop and refill.

I’ve had the 1911 primer feeder since it came out. Small pistol primers flow through it in seconds. I’ve had some issues with large primers getting hung up at the drop hole. Hornady sent me a new large primer tray and so far it works but does give some issues with some brands of large pistol primers.
For me it was well worth it but there are some others out there that work as well for about the same dollars and some out there that work very well for many dollars.
I would never go back to pecking primers with a tube.

Personally, my LnL SP tube wasn't worth a damn, the white plastic was too hard and I had to mash on the primers to get them in. My old RCBS tubes work just fine and have for decades.

Maybe I'm missing something... picking up 100 primers into a tube takes... like... 1 minute. I spend more time running downstairs to get another beverage from the garage 'fridge.

Rule3, I may have a complete replacement primer assembly for the LNL... send me a picture of what you need and I'll see if what I have will work for you.

Well that’s good cause it took me a whole lot longer. Pecking primers with a tube has got to be the stupidest thing I ever did.

Let me rephrase that it was the stupidest thing I have done while reloading. Done lots of stupid things

I have the FA one, and it needs a little tuning and it runs fine. It has issues with some brands of large primers, which require you to hold the device at a certain angle. It only takes about 20 seconds to fill a tube with small primers, maybe 40 with large.

The Hornady version works well from all reports Ive seen. DAA just put one out on the market too, and it looks slick as well. The Dillon one works, but like you said, its crazy money. I was talking mostly about the Dillon pickup tubes, they do work well.

I use the FA primer buzz box now and usually don’t fill more than one tube at a time. At count=100, I’m ready to take a micro stretch and micro brain break. It’s certainly not as elegant as the Dillon $$$$ one, but it works acceptably once you get used to it. I used to fill 3 primer tubes at a time with the stabbing method and you need a solid surface to work on lest you jar the primers upside down. There’s nothing wrong with that method either, no batteries required. Good luck.

I do the same while running the progressive. Every 100 rounds, I take 2 minutes, get 100 primers in the machine, top off the brass and bullets, and let my brain rest. Im in no rush, I have a case and bullet feeder, but Im perfectly happy with making a few less rounds an hour if it means my attention to detail is on point.

I have the 1911 style and it works fine for me. I agree, trying to peck peck peck them up is a major pita.
