Great service from Iron Sight Inc.

Nearly 30 years ago, I bought a Redfield 6x Traditional scope for my first hunt. It was bought new, and knowing that Redfield was nearby in Denver if it needed service, and that the warranty was pretty good too. It has certainly helped me take my share of big game over the years. A few years ago, it began to show some haze behind the objective, and I replaced the scope. Since then it just sat in a drawer gathering dust since Redfield closed up shop.

This summer, while tidying up, I re-discovered the scope, and decided to get it fixed if possible. After looking around, I found that Iron Sight Inc. in Tulsa had a pretty good reputation, and was where Leopold recommended taking old Denver Redfield scopes for service.

I sent it off in September, and it was just returned to me. I knew that it was going to take 10 - 12 weeks to get it back, and that was no problem. Anyway, I was most pleasantly surprised by the results, especially for the price. I should have sent it off years ago. I could not be happier.

It is easy to complain when things don't go right or as expected. It seems to me we should all also make some noise when things just really work out splendidly too.

The folks at Iron Sight are pretty darn good, and I would have no qualms about sending them any scope I have.

That's good to hear. I just sent my older Redfield to Iron Sight Inc to fix the erector and change the reticle. I hope my experience with them is as good as yours.

Good to know. I love my Redfields and have become quite adept at rebuilding them but it's nice to know of a good back-stop in the future.

I had no idea people even did this, sending them in for new reticle, rebuilds, etc...

I have an older Redfield, It's a Partner SE and it has surprisingly clear glass and a decent reticle, to my eye anyway. I think it's probably 20-25 years old. I have it on my compact 7-08. I did some searches on the Partner line of Redfields and the results were very poor, people say they are junk so unfortunately that kind of how I see it even though it works well enough....

I used to do it in our old paint booth between cars and after a filter re-fit. About every other year I'd have a half dozen or so of scopes, spares and parts and get to it at night with the stereo blasting and some ice cold Peronis. Very relaxing and the internet allows one to learn from others' mistakes like minding the cross hairs on a Unertl or beveling the initial thread on Redfields and others.

Anymore though - seems I'd rather pay to have a full refurbish than mess with my general DIY repairs.
