I've been handloading for about 5 years and have gone down the rabbit hole, this allowed me to become a proficient pistol shooter so I wanted to make small game hunting more of a challenge using a handgun. That said I have been wanting to use a 32 caliber revolver maybe the newer 327 Mag for its versatility. originally I drooled over a Ruger Single Seven but I was broke back then and now in this climate even single actions weren't immune to the lunacy. Talking about today's climate I can get the ruger target offerings in 327 mag or being an old gun lover a S&W Model 30 I-frame or 32 or 30-1 etc. For hunting and general plinking anyone here old school and can recommend something in 32(any) that's accurate and if so any special LGS or sites other than Gunbroker that I can deal with? Tnx in advance Gent's

They aren't extremely common, but my used Ruger Single Six in 32 H&R magnum is my most accurate 32 caliber revolver. I usually shoot 32 S&W long through it. I think they came in 5.5" barrels and 6.5". Mine's 6.5".

Whatever the more modern equivalent of the K32 Masterpiece would be very nice, too, but probably not affordable.

Awesome suggestions I didn't even think of the Ruger in 32 h&r mag my brain was melting over the 327 fed mag single seven, if I owned the single seven I'd hunt small game in the older 32cal cartridges of course but wonder if it would be as accurate as a dedicated 32h&r? I wonder Could a Hardcast 327FM take Deer efficiently/ethically, that would make a good all rounder

Wow! those are my two contenders for my next workhorses, I slaved to buy a Single seven just like that but the LGS had sold it and I didn't even know about layaway. Idk how the rules on THR are on proposing trades or sales or lgs info etc but if you'd like to PM me I'd like talk to you

I regret not buying one of those Taurus .327 mags right before they discontinued them, when dealers had them discounted to about $270 or so. Another lower priced option that is currently available would be the Charter Arms Undercoverette, in .32 HR magnum, which I believe are now being made as 6 shot revolvers after many years of being made only as 5 shots. (Correct me if I'm wrong on that...I am aware that the .32 CA's of 40 years ago were 6 shots.) They may be available in longer barrels, but I don't know.

What I opted for was a cool old S&W .32 Hand Ejector from the 1940's. It's in decent functional shape and is reliable and I paid $299 for it at Cabelas a few years ago. I had one prior to that, but didn't get such a good deal on it. (Yes, .32 S&W Long is considered marginal for defense/hunting, but Buffalo Bore is making some stouter rounds for it that can be used in solidly built guns like these old Smiths or later era H&R's, but you may not want to use them in those ancient top break Iver Johnsons or whatever. And I'd stay away from those H&R's in general just for reliability's sake.)

I did buy a 90's era Taurus DA revolver a couple of years ago...a knock off of an iconic S&W Model 16 from the 80's, in .32 HR Mag. It has a 6 inch barrel, sort of K frame sized, so it sounds like it might be exactly what the OP could be looking for. The problem is they're very hard to come by. Also, I haven't been able to bring the inherent accuracy out of mine yet, but it came with the original box and paperwork, which included a factory sight-in target that seemed to indicate the gun was fairly accurate at 15 to 25 yards.

This is what mine is, I can't remember which model number, though (76 or 761):

I bought a NIB 6.5” Bisley Single Six .32 H&R early last year, it’s been a really fun gun to shoot. I think it was $625. I’ve wanted a Ruger SA .32H&R since the 1980’s as a walk-about bunny hunting sidearm... and I finally got it after 30-odd years of waiting. :)

A couple months ago I was bidding on a nice 4” S&W 30-1 .32 S&W Long, but I stepped out after it crested $775.00. Those old Smith guns all go for a pretty penny even if they are in so-so shape. :(

I like that I can load the Ruger at near-max levels with room for a bit of safety.

Look around, the .32’s do pop up once in a while and if you’re diligent you can be in a position to snap one up at a fair price .

Stay safe.

Glad you got your revolver, on GB there a police s&w 32 in nickle, very clean im curios how high the bid goes

As of now I own 2 Ruger 32 mag single actions with adjustable sights and 5.5" barrels. Three 32 longs by S&W models 30-1 with 2" and 3" barrels and a 31-1 with 4" barrel and a 431PD with 2" barrel in 32 mag and out of all of them the two Rugers are the very best of the bunch. I never wanted a 327. Just too much of a good thing I suppose. But if I bought a single seven it would be the one with the 7.5" barrel. May as well get all out of it you can get.

I still see the Ruger single sixes on gunbroker and they normally sell in the $500 range. I think those are about perfect for a trail or small game gun. And they are a little lighter in weight because of the aluminum grip frame.

It seems the ruger singles and the 31-1's in 4" are good shooters I will see what I can get ahold of. I wanted a 32 BP rifle to hunt squirrels but there a hard find as well, it seems nothing I want is easy

That 632-2 with the laser would make an excellent carry piece and if you get older or arthritis you can "off the shelf" download your ammo.

A 22 will take deer. Head shots only. But I believe a 327 mag will take deer if and only if you do your part. Keep it under 30 yards and use the right ammo. And be prepared to track. In case something goes wrong.

It's too bad that SW dropped these guns. I have a 432 and a 632 (the hammered model with a comp'ed barrel in SS). Love them. They are pretty expensive nowadays.

FYI, at the local Cabelas, they have had a Ruger 327 LCR for $609 for a few months now. Getting ammo for it would be a horror. I am tempted by New Model Single-Six® : Single-Seven™ Model 08163 but really have no use for it besides holding it.

Getting a single six in 32 mag is like getting a table top drill press or a combo belt sander disc sander. You never knew you needed one until you get one and then wonder how you ever did without it.

I like shooting my home cast 94gr SWC bullets at around 900+fps. Way more thump than a 22 and cost just a few cents each to shoot. And I can load 85gr Hornady JHP bullets to over 1300fps if I want more power. But I rarely do that. That same bullet at 1100fps works for me. If I need a jump in power I just go to a 357.

Excellent price and no bids.

An SP101 3-4" fixed sights or adjustable would seem to fill the bill nicely. I bought a 3" as a "kit gun" for this very reason.

Mostly I load it with 32H&R loads as the stuff I am likely needing to shoot doesn't require stepping up to full Fed Mag loads.

Yes, full house .327 loads in the SP101 are a bit much, but fortunately I have a supply of components and can load to my preference. Downloading the .327, and uploading the .32 S&W Long for the two S&W revolvers.

As to the comment by another poster of being a good gun for the old and feeble, that is one reason why I have begun dabbling in the .32 world. I'm not there yet, but none of us are getting any younger.

I carry it a lot, but the first 4 in it are 32 H&R Mags due to the noise of the last two 327s. I also reload for them all.
