Want a small 32!?

My S&W Model 30 and Model 31 shoot crazy small groups with 32 S&WL wadcutters but they are fixed sight revolvers.

I have a Ruger SP101 in 327 Magnum that does well with low power loads in 327 magnum cases. That is one of the advantages of reloading, one can tailor the cartridge to the need.

Ditto for the Ruger Single Seven.

A Single Six in 32 H&R would be another good choice but you do not have the option of running full power 327 Fed magnum loads.

An aside, I like to load ammunition for a particular gun with the cartridge it is chambered for, not a shorter version. Just one of my idiosyncrasies. In the past, I did shoot lots of 38 Special ammunition in my 357 Magnum revolvers.

Anyway, we have ground hogs around our small hobby horse farm. The last one was dispatched with my S&W Model 317 (22 LR). It took too many shots to put the ground hog out of my misery.

I've got my 32 caliber SP101 ready for the next one when my availability matches the ground hog's lack of concern of danger.

I have a minty SS in 32 HRM. I have wondered if the cylinder chambers could be reamed or bored to take .327 mag.

Am I the only one that shoots .32 ACP in their revolvers?
Most of my .32s are semi-auto. I think I am down to the one revolver, the SS
Relatively Cheap plinking ammo, never had an issue.

I load auto cases but don’t shoot factory auto ammo in my wheelguns.

Not that I needed much encouragement, but you folks have me wanting to add another one to my .32 stable in addition to the SP101 and Models 30-1 and 31-1. So, I noticed that the AAFES Exchange (military) web site was advertising the Charter Arms Undercoverette, stainless 6 shot .32 H&R Magnum, at a price that is pretty good with no sales tax. I pulled the trigger and ordered one. Now to see how long it takes to get shipped to the BX here.

Seeing as how you already have three 32cal revolvers you should send that Undercoverette back and buy a Henry Big Boy Steel in .327 Federal. Now with side loading gates! Really stretch the legs out of that cartridge.

Probably next. I hadn't seen that they started offering the .327 with the side loading gate*. I might wait until we see if Ruger-Marlin offers one as well.

*Just checked the Henry website. They aren't showing a side loading gate in .327 yet.

Well, dang, I could have sworn they had brought the 327 out in a side gate as well. I seem to recall having checked their site about a month after they made the announcement, but maybe I just imagined it.

I have the 20" rifle so with holding 10 rounds of 327 I wasn't concerned about the lack of a side gate. If I need to reload in a hurry a couple of pieces of 1/2" brass tubing holding five rounds each will fill the magazine pretty quick.

Buffalo Outdoors has a nice vid on YouTube about a Henry 327 shooting tight groups at 100yds.

I'd be interested in the rifle if the ammo shortage lets up for the 32s. I'm hoarding my stock.

I don't do gunbroker, typically like to put my hands on a gun before buying, however, I happened to see this set of 3 .32s while researching an old H&R if anyone is interested.

Out of the dozen or more purchases I've made on GB, only two have been bad. One was an H&R 732 that didn't look great on the outside, but was cheap and it had a timing issue on one chamber. It was returned without issue.

The other was a black powder revolver with a pitted bore that was not as described, was only able to be bought with the "Buy it Now" option, and was something I'd wanted for a long time and decided it was either get it now or it's gone when I wake up tomorrow. I didn't see that the seller was selling it "As Is", he refused to refund me, and I gave him a big, fat F. I learned my lesson and that was to never bid or buy a used black powder gun without a picture of the bore.

The only positive of that was the revolver I bought was a Colt repro, so I chopped down the barrel to 2 inches and plan to buy a replacement barrel in the future.

Well I have a Taurus Titanium in .32 H&R that I use as a carry gun. But what I like to shoot are the older guns, so I have the S&W first model hand ejector of 1896 introduced with the new S&W .32 long cartridge. I also have a couple M1903 S&W I frames in .32 S&W long. Nice for small game and good shooters. Also have a couple S&W top breaks SA in .32 S&W - sometimes referred to as S&W .32 short ,which I think would work fine for rabbits and tree rats. That is if you want to go old school.

Picked up the Charter Arms .32 H&R from the BX today, and upon return home I found another goody in the mailbox.

Nice gun and you are going to love the book. Those books have skyrocketed in price since Paladin press closed down. Yours looks like a new printing with a different cover. If you don't mind me asking where did you find it and what was the asking price. I paid $15 from mine from Evan Marshall but have seen them listed on Amazon and Ebay for as much as $70 for a used copy.

I got a Ruger Single six 9 1/2" .32 H&R Mag on GB beginning of last year. I have lots of S&W .32 Long and short ammo and makings. I only have shot some long thru it and it's accurate ! Can't wait to load some mag loads this summer. I'm tempted to scope it. I load .32-20 and think some of those 115 grain bullets loaded hot would be interesting on ground Squirrel
