Nope just a replacement for the screw used on Hogue grips.

The Bisley is 'new to me', I have not had a chance to shoot it yet. Looking forward to compairing the grip styles. I've got some 300grain Hornady XTP's hunting loads I use in the Marlin ready to hit the range, just need to find the time.

what barrel length is that and is that a 29 or a 544?

My M29-2 NCHP 50th Anniversary Commemorative, issued in 1979. 1088 of them made, initially only sold to active or retired Troopers. This one is unfired except by the factory. I have a couple of .41 Magnums to shoot.

Truly. That 44 right there makes me want to leave offerings on the velvet like an altar: a shot of corn liquor, a few Ben Franklins, and two packs of cigarettes (without a single DAMN stamp on them)

Thank you for those comments. I'd heard about these quite a few years ago and had always wanted one since. It means more to me since I'm an NC native. This one was pretty schmutzy when I bought it, took several hours with rags and Flitz to get the oxidation off and bring back the shine. I had the gun lettered from SWHF hoping to find out who the Trooper was who originally purchased it, but the gun sale was only traced as far as the wholesale distributor, who ordered them on behalf of the NCHP. I found this one in a gun shop about 3 hours drive from me.

This was the first time a M29 was used in a commemorative issue. It's also the only commemorative that's used laser engraving. The M29's 6-1/2" barrel option was discontinued in 1979, part of this commemorative issue has 6-1/2" barrels, most have the 6" barrel like mine. Word is, the remaining supply of 6-1/2" barrels was used on this commemorative issue. Each gun has an issue number stamped on the frame, in addition to the S&W SN. Mine is #0835 of the 1088 made. You can see in the picture how grimy and oxidized the gun was initially.

I was unfamiliar with the details pertaining to the barrel lengths. My 29-2 has a 6” and it’s serial places it at 1979. She’s Getting a check up at the Smiths rite now.
I actually prefer the 6” to a longer barrel, as it’s still possible to cross draw belt carry, tho I prefer a low torso weak side shoulder rig and I’d much wish it to be a 5”…. Yet no hacksaw to this beauty.

I kept rubbing it, hoping a genie would come out of the barrel and give me three more S&W's (instead of wishes). Well, I've gotten three more S&W's since this one, but unfortunately I had to pay for them.

Flitz, friction and an old diaper can work wonders. I polish the gun every couple of weeks now, with a silicone cloth, to keep it coated and shiny. It had fingerprints imbedded in the oxidation that took me a couple of days to totally remove. Most of the gun cleaned up nicely in a few hours.

Ya the Old 44 mag 29 is a Beautiful revolver. Gets low end Mag reloads only.

Trade Secrets …Eight years ago on Valentine’s Day- Met a guy and a old Smith 41 22lr was required to assist. Got the Presentation wood box as well. Soon after I parted with the 41 22lr for the 29 ,I got a 4” 617 no dash.

No need for them bottom feeders

Ps I was so happy to get that 29 I forgot to pick up Flowers for the Mrs… She was pissed.

Luckily-
I Still have the 29 ….and The Woman.

Reminds me of a Good Joke-

A Old couple went Shopping for Christmas. Decided to split off and get shopping for each other and call when one another was done.
